This reaction paper discusses the crisis facing Philippine fisheries. Several factors are contributing to this crisis, including illegal fishing, habitat degradation, overfishing, pollution, and technologies that harm juvenile fish. As a result of mismanagement and lack of discipline, many aquatic species are endangered or overfished. While the sea seems like an endless resource, overexploitation without sustainable practices can damage fisheries. The government is working to maintain current catch levels and fish production through effective management. Proper awareness and management of fishing practices are needed to preserve these important natural resources and ensure food security and economic stability for the Philippines.

REACTION PAPER: THE PHILIPPINE FISHERIES UNDER CRISIS Philippine Fisheries is one of the income provider, employment, foreign exchange earnings and stability to our country were millions of people expand it as their main source of income for a living. It rendered a portion of how our country developed especially in providing livelihood and food but with the good occurrence with these resources, why it is now in critical condition or under crisis? We all know that Philippines recognized as the world outstanding and productive in marine ecosystems but with the current dilemma that we are facing it is not impossible that we might be in a bleak. Illegal fishing, habitat degradation, over harvesting in aquatic resources, pollution and different innovative technologies that can damage small fishes are some of the current dilemmas in the fisheries sector where some didn’t think the consequences of their lack of management and disciplines. However, people have always think that the sea in endless resources that is why they have been taken a high volumes of fish but with that they are not aware that there are species in the aquatic resources that are endangered or they are in overfishing that even a very young fish is being catch. Our sea is not a robot that if you want to have the access on such phenomena it will provide easily, in our resources yes some people might think that sea is wide bodies of water which provide endless fish but for thinking I also realized that without proper understanding on the appropriate fishing there is no guarantee that we could produce enough. Furthermore, government provide a framework that ultimately solved the current dilemmas to maintain the food security of the nation and even the balance benefits between people and the nature. They proposed that it is best to maintain the current levels of catch and an increase for fish production that disseminate to the various levels of government that ensure that management will be implemented actively. And as amended for the FAO Code of Conduct for Fisheries Philippine applications allow the people to know the key features that is applicable in the Philippine setting to reduce the crisis we are facing. It is also considered as a guide to preserve our resources that bring in our country a stability in our economy or for foreign trade earnings. As for my recommendation, It is vital to all of us Filipinos to be aware on the negative side of the benefits we received from our nature upon excessive using it. Without taking care of these natural gift from God we won’t supposedly survived our daily living. That is why I am recommending every reader of these reaction paper to think wisely and also manage your actions with great knowledge as well as awareness. Even in a simple way of thinking we can save lives from the resources and they will help us save our live as a human beneficiary.
