LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 12

March 14, 2022 Sagittarius – 7:45-9:45
Aries – 10:00-12:00
Taurus – 1:00-3:00
Parsley – 3:00-5:00

I. OBJECTIVES:
Analyze a chemical reaction in order to determine which reactant is the limiting reactant and
which is the excess reactant (S11/12PS-IIIh-27)
SUBTASK: Determine the limiting reactant in a reaction and calculate the amount of product of formed.
II. CONTENT AND MATERIALS:
Topic: Limiting Reactants and the Amount of Products Formed
References:
Learner’s Material (LM) in Science 12 – An introduction to Physical Science., Curriculum
Guide in Science 12
Materials:
Laptop, projector,
KBI: Eco-Friendly, DRRM.
III. PROCEDURES:
Preliminary Activities
A. Checking of Attendance
B. Review: Direction: Based on the previous topic that we have discussed,
1. What is Collision Theory?
2. What is a Chemical Reaction?
3. What are the Factors Affecting the Rate of Reaction?

C. Motivation:
- How do you solve your problem?
- Do you rely on the saying, “what comes up, must come down”?
- Or are you the person who look immediately for a solution to your problem?

Development of the Lesson

A. Activity.
1. Pre-Test
2. Discussion (Limitting Reactants and the Amount of Products Formed)
( found in LAS Week 6)
3. Activity 1. Limiting Reactants Activity
(found in LAS Week 6)

IV. EVALUATION:
Directions: Read the statement below carefully and fill in the blank(s) with the correct answer.
1. The______________ is the reactant that gets used up first during the reaction and also determines how much
product can be made.
2. _______________is a section of chemistry that involves using relationships between reactants and/or products in a
chemical reaction to determine desired quantitative data.
3. ______________is a reactant that is not used up when the reaction is finished.
4. ______________is a reagent that is completely used up or reacted.

COUNTING BY GETTING THE MASS OF AN OBJECT
Activity 1.
OBJECTIVES: Relate the mass of the object to the number of pieces per item
Materials: 25pcs. Paper clips
Platform balance
Procedure: 1. Measure and record the mass of 25 pcs. paper clip using the platform balance. Divide the
mass obtained by 25 to find the average mass of one paper clip. Perform three trials.

2. Get a handful of paper clips and measure their mass. Compute for the number of paper clips using your
data from the step #1. Be sure to do it through computation and not by counting.
3. This time, count the number of paper clips in the handful of paper clips in step #2.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 by getting paper clips in the handful of paper clips. Record you answers in Table 2.
