ELICIT/ENGAGE Poem: On the Move
Push and pull that is force
Make things move back and forth Forces, forces are really first rate
Keep things moving, accelerate!
If you want to move a ball
From here to over there
You can kick it with your foot
And send it through the air.

A rocket needs force to fly to the moon

A car needs force to get there soon.
Without any force, to keep us moving
We are stuck in one place , doing something.

Drill: Form a word out of scrambled words. Use the meaning

on the right as clue.

1.CEROF- ____ =.not strong

2.STEFEF______ =push and
pull
3.OVEMTENM -__= transfer
from one place to another;
change in direction and
position of an object
4.COBJET - _____=.a thing
5.TRONGS-_____=powerful;
capable of doing great
physical force
6.KEWA - _____= not strong

( Force. Effects, Movement , Object , Strong, Weak )

Review:
What are the effects of force on the size of an
object?
Name some ways to change the size of an object using force.

Motivation/Presentation:
a. Call a big boy and a small boy in class.
b. Ask the boys to push the teacher’s table one at a time
within 10 seconds.
Who among the boys was able to push the table farther from them
after 10 seconds?

Who exerted less force to

push?

What happened to the

movement of the table
when less/ weak force was exerted?
Essential Question:
What do you think will happen to the movement of an object if
force is applied on it?
1.Setting of standards
2.Groupings
3.Distribution of activity
sheets and materials
4. Performing the activity
EXPLORE
Perform Lesson 46: Activity 1: Push or Go
LM pp.175-177

5.Publishing
6. Reporting

Ask each group to present or publish their work/report and answer the
guide questions:

Activity 1: Push and Go

1.How do you compare the distance travelled by the toy cars when
pushed it with varying strengths of forces?
2.Which degree of force applied made the toy car travelled the farthest
from the starting point? Nearest the starting point?
EXPLAIN
3.What factors do you think affected the movement of the toy car?

What is the effect of force to the movement of an object?

Force can change the speed and direction of an object. The force
applied on an objects affects the object’s movement . The stronger
the pushing force applied on an object , the farther the distance or
faster the object moves. The lesser/ weaker the force applied , the
closer the distance / slower the object moves.
(Vibal Science in Our World 4 pp.125)
ELABORATE Let the pupils analyses the situation and illicit answers from them.
Allysa and her mother went to the grocery store to buy the things
they need for her birthday party. Mother get a grocery cart and Alyssa
helped her pushed the cart. Mother wanted to move to the meat section
faster so they can go home early. How much force should Allysa apply
on the cart to the make it move faster.

2. A marble that is standing still will move when ______________.

A. Bumped by another
marble
B. There is a strong
wind

A. The ball moved
closer to the boy
B. The ball moved far
from the boy
A. The ball will not
move.

the air.

3. Why do you need to use force to move a ball moving up a

ramp?

A.to move the ball

away from a ramp.
B.to add force to the
ball
C.to allow the ball to
stay in a ramp.
D. to let the ball roll on
a ramp.

4.Which among the objects will move faster upon the application
of force?
A. Marble

C. pebble
D. beach ball
5. Which of the following statement explains about the effects of
force on the movement of an object is TRUE?
A. The stronger the force exerted on an object, the faster it
moves.
B. The stronger the force exerted on an object, the slower it
moves.
C. Objects move slower when applied force is weak.
