AFFIDAVIT OF UNDERTAKING

I, MARK EARVIN MANAHAN CERVANTES with residence and postal address at B41
L37 VILLA PALAO SUBDIVISION CALAMBA CITY and currently a graduate student
under the degree program MASTER OF ARTS MAJOR IN PHILOSOPHY at
UNIVERSITY OF SANTO TOMAS, España Blvd. Manila of legal age, and Filipinos, after
being sworn to in accordance with law do hereby deposes and state that:

1. I am currently writing a thesis entitled: AN ELABORATION OF THE

EMPIRICAL SOCIO-INSTITUTIONAL PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION
BEHIND THE K-12 PROGRAM: TOWARDS A PROGRAM IMPROVEMENT
as part of my terminal requirements my graduate studies;

2. In proving my thesis statements, I am in need of gathering data which involves human

participants although to the best of my belief such human participants are not
vulnerable to much harm because these projected human participants are persons in
authority above me;

3. Regardless of such belief, I am ensuring that the following ethical considerations

crafted under the principles of EUROPEAN CODE OF CONDUCT FOR
RESEARCH INTEGRITY and UST RESEARCH ETHICS COMMITTEE
GUIDELINES I have deposed in the later part of my proposal will be carried out and
they are as follows:

a. I will ensure the scientific validity of the study. I assure that my arguments
are feasibly corroborated with tangible proofs even though philosophy, as an
academic discipline, is theoretical in most of its dealings. This research forms
part of the growing contribution to the efforts to make philosophical research
more scientific in proving arguments.

b. In the proposed interviews and focused group discussions, I will fully abide by
the ethical standards in collecting data involving human subjects. I will see to
it that the respondents' participation is voluntary; hence, they can withdraw
their participation should they feel any inconvenience on their part. Hence, I
will not employ coercion or apply any form of undue influence just to secure
the extraction of data from the projected participants. Further, I will inform my
participants about the purpose of the study and the possible benefits, risks, and
funding behind the study before they decide to participate. Importantly, the
data they will share with the respondents will be treated with the utmost
confidentiality. I will anonymize personally identifiable gathered data. In this
way, the shared data will never be linked to anyone.

c. I guarantee the one hundred percent accuracy in representing all the data
gathered from the ground. I will ensure the absence of any form of
manipulation on the collected data in order to suit up with my desired

 conclusion in case there occurs discrepancy between my thesis’s arguments
and the actual results.

d. I will ensure that I will properly cite my resources and maintain the integrity
of this proposed thesis by making it plagiarism free and ensuring that I will
accurately present the study results as entirely mine.

e. And, I ensure that my findings will not be politically influenced by not

accepting or soliciting research grants from any government agencies or
NGOs. Although I am professionally connected to Department of Education, I
will not allow the authorities above me to influence the formulation of my
study’s conclusion. I will always maintain the academic integrity of this study.

4. Any action committed against the above-cited ethical considerations, whether

intentional or by omission, will provide reasonable grounds for the University to
impose sanctions based on its school rules and policies.

5. I am executing this affidavit to attest to the trustfulness of the foregoing allegations

and for whatever legal purposes it may serve.
