4.3 Operation Panel
The following table describes the instrument panel keys and the LEDs at the front of the
analysis unit along with their functions.

Key Name Function

START This is used to start an analysis. Normally, analysis is started using the touch panel. This key
is used to resume the analysis in S-STOP state after issuing a new test request.
ALARM This is used to stop an alarm.
STOP
FEED This is used to rotate the Sample Table. It can be used only during S-STOP state, not during
analysis. Pressing the key once will rotate the turntable at a feed of one rack.
SAMPLE This is used to stop sampling. When you want to add a sample, press this key, wait for the
STOP symbol inside of the system status indicator to light up after flashing, and then open the
sample cover to add a sample.
Note: Press START to restart.
EMERGENCY This is used to perform an emergency stop. Analyses of samples which have undergone
STOP sampling, and samples under analysis with no results yet, will be aborted. If the system is in E-
STOP state, pressing [EMERGENCY STOP] will initiate the reset operation.

 If the top cover is open, pressing [EMERGENCY STOP] in E-STOP

Caution
state does not initiate the reset operation.
 [START]/ [EMERGENCY STOP]/ [SAMPLE STOP] keys have an
input restriction to prevent unintentional operation. Hold down these
keys for 0.2 – 1.0 second to perform action. An alarm will sound if
pressed any longer (the alarm will be deactivated once the key is
released).

4.5 Using/Inputting QR codes
In this system, you can read information from QR Codes affixed on reagents, calibrators,
and control materials using the 2-dimensional code reader. You can read a QR code by
holding the 2-dimensional code reader over the code and pressing the read button, while
the corresponding input screen is displayed. To read a combination QR code (or divided
QR code), keep the button pressed.

4.6 Types of Sample Rack

The sample racks can be numbered from 1 to 62.
The standard configuration of the system includes nine racks: racks numbered 1 to 6
(routine use); rack 51 (calibrators) and rack 56 (controls); and one rack that can be
numbered freely (deficient plasma or STAT sample). The number for a sample rack is
defined using the metal sheet at the bottom of the rack.

Note: For information about setting the number for the free racks, see 7.2.8.4.

Reading Sample Racks and Sample Barcodes

Barcodes on the sample racks specified for deficient plasma or cup use cannot be
read. If racks specified for calibrations or controls are designated for cup use at the
time of rack registration, barcode reading cannot be performed.

Handling of STAT Samples in Barcode Operation

You can set priorities to numbers for the racks you want to analyze first following the
startup (prioritized racks). See 7.2.8

4.7 Rinse Water Replacement
Caution

When you put the tank tray back in place after replacing the rinse water, make sure not
to bend or pinch tubes connected to the rinse water tank or the waste tank. Otherwise
damage to the tubes may occur, causing water leakage.

1. Open the front cover of the unit, and pull out the tank
tray.
2. Remove the lid of the rinse water tank and then lift the
tubes out of the tank.
3. Discard the remaining water from the rinse water tank.
4. Fill the tank with purified water.
5. Place the tank in the tank tray.
6. Insert the tubes back into the tank and close the lid.
7. Put the tank tray back in place.
8. Close the front cover of the unit.
9. Touch [Status/Start] on the [Samples] screen.
10. Touch [Washing Pump Start] > [START] from the
[Status/Start] screen.*1

11. The pump for degassing the rinse water is

activated and stops automatically after three
minutes.

*1
Note [Washing Pump Start]:
Replacing the rinse water tank may cause gas bubbles in the tubing of the rinse water.
Those bubbles can, however, be removed from the tubing by circulating the pump. In
addition, the degassing operation is automatically activated in the following cases.

 At the first analysis after the system has been turned off and on (except when the
degassing operation is carried out before the first analysis).
 At the first analysis after it has taken more than three minutes to reinstall the tank
when replacing the rinse water.

4-17
4.8 Disposal of Waste Liquid
BioHazard

1) Always use protective wear such as gloves when you handle waste liquids or parts
that are in contact with the waste liquid. Avoid contact with your bare hands and
beware of the risk of infection with pathogens.
2) You need to appropriately dispose of waste liquid or parts that are in contact with the
waste liquid by referring to the section on "Disposal" in the chapter "Safety
Precautions." This may pose a threat of infection and bacterial contamination.
3) When you remove the lid of the drain tank, be careful not to splash the waste. Waste
splash can cause infection with pathogens.
4) When you transport the drain tank, make sure to firmly close the lid. Spillage of waste
may pose a threat of infection and bacterial contamination.

Caution

When you put the tank tray back in place after disposing of the waste liquid, make sure
not to bend or pinch tubes connected to the rinse water tank or the waste tank.
Otherwise damage to the tubes may occur, causing water leakage or infection.

1. Use protective wear such as gloves. Also, prepare a cloth or a

paper towel to wipe off the waste.
2. Open the front cover of the unit, and pull out the tank tray.
3. Remove the lid of the drain tank carefully, making sure that you do
not spill the waste. In order to prevent the waste from dripping off
the lid, apply the cloth to the lid to absorb the waste.
4. Pull out waste tank.

Note: that waste liquid remaining in the tube

will drip down from here.

5. Discard the waste collected in the drain tank.

Note: By detaching the rubber stopper, you can discharge

the waste liquid easily
Note:

4-18
6. Place the tank in the tank tray.
7. Attach the lid to the drain tank.
8. Put the tank tray back in place.
9. Close the front cover of the unit.

1. Remove the fixing screws from the window cover of the cuvette loading module,
and then remove the cover.
2. Check the remaining amount of cuvettes.
3. Feed cuvettes through the cuvette entry port, so as not to exceed the load upper
limit shown above.

Caution
Do not overload cuvettes. Exceeding the load upper limit may cause blockage or cracks
on cuvettes.

4-19
4.9.2 Disposal of Used Cuvettes
BioHazard

Use protective wear such as gloves when you handle used cuvettes in the cuvette waste
container. Avoid contact with your bare hands and beware of the risk of infection with
pathogens.
1) Appropriately dispose of used cuvettes by referring to the section on "Disposal"
chapter in the chapter “Safety Precautions" (cuvette material: acrylic)

1. Use protective wear such as gloves.

2. Open the front cover of the unit.
3. Pull out the cuvette waste container and discard the
collected cuvettes.
4. Put the cuvette waste container back in place.
5. Close the front cover of the unit.
