SNED 311—Instructional Adaptations in Mathematics and Science Instructions

ACTIVITY 1

1. From the enumerated principles in teaching Science effectively: Select only 3

principles and do the following:

 Explain each Principle selected (15)

Address Every Student’s Needs we should provide appropriate learning to the

student that will meet their needs, to enhance their skills and capabilities.

Field Trip- include occasions or pursuits where students leave the campus of the
school to engage in curriculum-related activities, allowing students in observing
the places and events that would help them develop their knowledge in specific
subjects.

Audiovisual Learning Aids- also known as instructional material. There are tools
used in schools to promote teaching learning and make it simpler and more
engaging. These tools help the students understand the subject matter better.
The conceptual learning process encourages students to be active on their own.

 Provide 2 examples wherein the specific principle was properly demonstrated or

applied. (15)

Address Every Student’s Needs

Provide learners with a variety of content-learning options. Students could prefer
to acquire new material visually, audibly, or practically. To deliver the knowledge
in a clear, engaging manner, you might also utilize a concept map, movies, or
other visual aids.

Allow students to do the work independently. This would allow the student to
apply what they have learned and let them do it repeatedly until they get it.

Field Trip.
A museum is one of the best places where the history and art are collected and
located and allows them to observe and listen to all the information that was seen
and provided to them

Theatre brings classroom lessons to life and introduces educational groups and
students to the many amazing performances that theatres have to offer.

Audiovisual Learning Aids

PowerPoint Presentation (PPT)/ Projector, could be used in presenting
information and it is effective in the teaching-learning process.

Smart TVs are ideal for classroom instruction because they encourage student
participation, which improves socializing. Using this gadget, teachers can assign
more group tasks, and students can form groups to participate.

2. From the enumerated principles in teaching Mathematics effectively: Select only 3

principles and do the following:

 Explain each Principle selected (15)

Use and connect mathematical representations- can be used by both students and
teachers to solve issues and explain mathematical concepts to others. Teachers
should think about how they and their students may employ representation in the
lesson on mathematics they are teaching today while organizing instruction,
practice, or reinforcement activities.

Implement tasks that promote reasoning and problem solving- Teachers can
promote the act of constructive conflict by giving students the chance to express
their reasons and by praising the variety of their thinking styles. Students that
participate in this process develop the imagination and self-assurance necessary to
take on novel tasks and problems.

Support productive struggle in learning mathematics- provide equal opportunities

for all the students to engage in productive strategy. So, if they having a hard time
in understand the discussion, we could give them assistance or support to lessen
the burden that they have.

 Provide 2 examples wherein the specific principle was properly demonstrated or

applied (15)
Cartesian Graphs- by using graphing paper we can allow the students to solve a
problem using this material it permits us to generate and understand algebraic
concepts, as well as to visually explain algebraic relationships.

Problem-Solving situations and questions. Describing the situation aids in providing

prompt and efficient problem-solving. Prior to using their own original creative
answer, students must have a conceptual knowledge of the question.

3. In teaching Science and Math, how can you develop and honed the following values
and attitudes in young children with special educational needs. (20)
 Accuracy
 Creativity
 Perseverance
 Curiosity
