FOREWORD

Alhamdulillah, praise and gratitude I pray for the presence of Allah swt
who has given His grace and guidance so that the Field Work Practice Results
Report was written in an effort to complete the requirements for the School
Graduation exam, and more than that, this report is actually a summary of the
poroses while in DU/DI.

I would like to thank the various parties who have assisted in making the
Field Work Practice (PKL) report for the 2021/2022 academic year, including the
following:

1. Mr. Suyatno M.BA as Principal of SMK PGRI 1TAMAN

2. Dihrot Andika S.Pd. as a PKL Advisor Teacher.

3. Mr. July. As the Workshop Leader of PGRI1 TAMAN Vocational

School

4. Mr. and Mrs. Teachers of SMK PGRI 1TAMAN who have provided
guidance during the implementation of street vendors

5. All parties who have assisted in the preparation of this Field Work
Practice (PKL) report.

The author is very aware that this report is still far away and is still below
the word perfect due to the limitations and abilities of the author. Therefore,
constructive criticism and suggestions will be very helpful for the author

CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background

At the beginning of the development of welding technology, welding is

only used for permanent joints and repairs - repairs that are less important.
But after experiencing long practice experience, now the use of welding can
reach almost jobs using metal raw materials. During my Industrial Work
Practices, I learned that one of the manufactures of window trellises is a
product made of rectangular steel, which is used as a safety device which is
usually located on the windows of the house. In addition, this product can
also be used as a home decoration.

1.2 Goals

The purpose of making this report is as follows:

1. As a requirement to take the Prakerin Report Exam.

2. As written evidence of Industrial Work Practice activities that have

been carried out by the author in the program in the Business
World / Industrial World.

3. As the application of the knowledge and expertise competencies

that have been obtained by the author in the welding engineering
program at SMK PGRI 1 Taman Pemalang

4. Provide an overview of carrying out the activities of Industrial

Work Practices (PRAKERIN)

1.3 Functions of products and services

2. As a home security to avoid theft.

3. To beautify / beautify the house (decoration)

4. Make the house look more diligent.

5. Adding uniqueness.

CHAPTER II

THEORETICAL BASE

2.1 Definition of Welding

Welding is the connection of two metal parts permanently using heat.

Thermal energy is needed to heat the base material to be joined and the wire
as a filler.

2.2 Various welding processes

Welding processes are classified into 3 groups, namely:

1. Welding Melt (Liquid)

2. Electrical Resistance Welding

3. Soldering or Brazing

1. Welding Melt (Liquid).

The basic liquid welding process and the

welding wire are heated until they melt and are
integrated with each other, the welding
methods which include liquid welding are as
follows:

2. Electrical Resistance Welding.

Electrical Resistance Welding is a method of

welding using resistance (electricity that
occurs between two metal parts to be
connected). This welding method is used in
electric welding, pressure welding, or roller
welding.

3. Soldering or Brazing

Soldering is the joining of metals under the

influence of heat treatment with the help of a
metal connector (solder) which has a melting
point of the metal to be joined.

2
2.3 Types of connection

The connection position for corner joints and blunt joints consists of 4
welding positions, namely:

1. The position of the bottom center (down head)

2. Horizontal position (horizontal)

3. Upright position (vertical) and

4. Position above the head (over head)

2.4 Welding equipment

2.4.1 Welding machine

1. AC Current Welding Machine

Welding machine is the most important part of

arc welding equipment. AC welding machines
require a source from a single-phase return
device with a transformer. The input current is
reduced to a current. Output is around 36 to 70
volts, but large currents are around 200–500
A.

2. DC Current Welding Machine.

This machine converts the incoming AC

current into DC output with the help of a
rectifier. It operates quietly and usually has a
single regulator to adjust the output current.

3. Welding Machine AC – DC

This welding machine is a combination of

alternating current and direct current
machines, with this machine more possibilities
for use because the current that comes out can
be AC or DC by simply changing the position
of the handle on the machine.

3
2.4.2 Welding equipment

1. Welding Cable.

The current-carrying core is usually made of

spun copper, wrapped, with insulators and
given reinforcement, so that it is not easily
broken, this cable must be flexible, not rigid
and not interfere with work movements.

2. Electrode Holder.

Used to clamp electrodes, it consists of a

clamp mouth and a gripped handle.

3. Mass Clamp

Mass clamps are used to connect mass clamps

to the workpiece.

4. Welding Hammer and Wire Brush.

Used to clean slag and welding sparks on

workpieces.

5. Clamping Pliers.

Used to clamp or move hot objects.

4
6. Welding Masks.

Used to protect eyes and face from ultraviolet

rays.

7. Safety Glasses.

To protect the operator's eyes when cleaning

the workpiece before and after welding.

8. Welding Clothes.

Used to protect the operator's body which

cannot be strong with safety equipment
including welding clothes.

9. Welding Room

This is very important because people around

him are not distracted from the welding light.

CHAPTER III

IMPLEMENTATION OF TIME AND PLACE OF PKL

3.1 HISTORY OF INDUSTRY

Welding workshop "JULI" which is located on Jl. Banana No.128,

Karanglo, Sewaka, Kec. Pemalang, Pemalang Regency, Central Java.
Established in 2006, Mr. Juli's family has sufficient capital to build a
workshop and buy welding tools and machines, and is standing as it is today.
The line of business that is carried out includes the manufacture of folding
doors, rolling doors, fence railings, iron railings, and many types and kinds of
products made in the "JULI" welding workshop. The welding workshop,
which is led by Mr. Juli, has 3 employees, who work as “welders” or welders.

CHAPTER IV

CLOSING

5.1 Conclusion

After doing the work process. We can find out how to make window
trellises, so it can be concluded:

1. Making window trellis requires a fairly large cost.

2. Making window trellis takes quite a long time.

3. The difficulty in making trellis is to make trellis which is angled

and is usually difficult in the sanding process.

4. Window trellises were created to provide a sense of security to

homeowners, and also as home accessories.

5.2 Suggestions

Based on the Prakerin Report and Work Process, there are several
suggestions that must be considered as a basis for doing a job so that in our
Prakerin activities we are not awkward. Which covers :

1. The supervisor is requested for monitoring not only once a month.

2. To the welding workshop, try to be better in the field of welding.

3. We hope that the welding workshop employees will be more

accepting and guiding the prakerin students.

4. Students are expected to comply with existing work regulations in

the industrial world.

5. Working together is easier than working alone.
