Hello everybody! Today I’m going to talk about the unit 5,

that talks about places to visit.
I like travelling. It can be just for a weekend, or it can be the
journey of our lives, but what really matters is to go, expand
horizons, learn and grow up, to return with new points of view
and more life. Go to an unknown place, is to open doors to the
adventure, whatever it can be, it’s also to open the way to the
unexpected, to the surprise, it´s give freedom to a page which is
blank for it fill! Travel sets you free. No one doubts. People say
that travel avoid and even heal diseases, that it makes you
rejuvenate, gets you humble and makes you more patient. They
say you become happier when you travel.
When we hear the words “places to visit”, we think about all
the places we would like to visit, so I’going to talk about the
country which I’d like to travel to. It is Austria, a country which
has about 8.9 million habitants and it’s located at central europe.
It borders Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary,
Slovenia and Italy, and Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
I’m going to be your tourist guide and show you the most
popular cities in Austria, but first, I would like to show you
some trivia and facts about this wonderful country!
Did you know that the world’s largest ice carven is located at
Austria, or that the oldest restaurant in the world is also located
at Austria, in Salzburg city. Some more curiousities about
Austria, are related to the the fact of Vienna, which is the
Austria’s Capital, be the world capital of classical music. And
last, but not least, did you know that Hitler, the german dictator,
was born in Austria?
Well, it’s time to proceed! Let’s start our trip! If you can the
picture, we are watching the capital of Austria, Vienna. This is
the Vienna State opera house built in the 1900s, is one of the
city’s most popular tourist destinations, with thousands flocking
annually to see some of the world’s favourite operatic works,
performed live in an authentic setting. If we advance for a little
bit, we can see the Heldenplatz. This is a public space in front of
the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Austria. Located in the Innere
Stadt borough, this is one of the most beautiful monuments in
Vienna. If want to know more about the Heldenplatz, I can also
say that the President of Austria resides in the adjoining
Hofburg wing.
We have finished our trip at Vienna, now we’re going to the
Salzburg city in Austria. Salzburg is the forth largest city of
Austria. This city is located next to the Salzach river banks at
the Alps’ north top. The city name means “Salt Castle” which
refers to the importance of the salt over the centuries. The salt
was the main economic resource at the Salzburg region. This
city is also known, because the world’s cleverest classic song
writer who was called Mozart, was born here.
If you take a look, you can see the Hohensalzburg Fortress,
which is a castle located in the city of Salzburg, Austria, at the
top of the Festungsberg. With a length of 250 meters and a
width of 150 meters, it is one of the largest medieval castles in
Europe.
To finish our trip at Salzburg, at ten miles from Hohensalzburg
Fortres, we can find the Mirabell Palace which is one of the
most seen and beautiful monuments in Salzburg. It is a historic
building in the city of Salzburg, Austria. The palace with its
gardens is a listed cultural heritage monument and part of the
Historic Center of the City of Salzburg, a UNESCO World
Heritage Site.
Now, let’s know our last city of this trip around Austria. The
next, and the las city is called Insbruck, and this is a city in the
west of Austria, capital of the state of Tyrol. It is crossed by the
River Inn, from where it bears its name. The word bruck has its
origin in the German-language word Brücke, which means
"bridge", which leads the city to call itself "Bridge Inn
River". This river is one of the most knowns of Austria, but the
river’s source is located at St.Moritz, in Switzerland.
A few meters from the city is located the OlympiaWorld
Innsbruck that is a multipurpose sports complex in Innsbruck. It
was inaugurated in 1963. The complex served as the Olympic
Park of the Winter Olympics of 1964 and 1976, as well as the
2012 Winter and Winter Olympics.
