WORKSHEET 2. MOLECULAR BIOLOGY

Topic 2.1 Molecules to Metabolism

A. Introduction
Water is the medium for live. Living organisms control their composition by a
complex web of chemical reaction that occur within this medium. Photosynthesis use
the energy in sunlight to supply chemical energy needed for life and cell respiration
release this energy when it is needed. Compounds of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen
are used to supply and store energy. Many proteins act as enzyme to control the
metabolism of the cell and others have a diverse range of biological functions.
Genetic information is stored in DNA and can be accurately copied and translated to
make their protein needed by the cells.

B. Skills
Identification of biochemical such as carbohydrate, lipid, protein and nucleic acid
from molecular diagram.

C. Identifying Molecules
