Activity 4

Answer the following questions:

1. What kind of energy an engine exhaust gas possesses?

- In a heat engine, combustion can transform the chemical energy of a fuel

into thermal, or heat, energy. Similar to engines with drive shafts, the

engine transforms the thermal energy into mechanical energy.

2. In a 2-stroke engine, the operation cycle is completed in how many strokes and

revolution?

- In a 2-stroke engine, the piston completes the cycle's five tasks in just two

strokes (or one revolution of the crankshaft). The two-stroke engine

produces power with just two piston motions, as its name suggests. Due to

the simultaneous gas intake and exhaust, the engine can start producing

power after just one cycle.

3. What instrument is provided on the exhaust line to reduce the pressure?

- Muffler is the instrument that reduces the pressure of an exhaust line, If

an engine can quickly exhaust all of the exhaust gases it produces, it will

be able to produce more power more quickly. Mufflers naturally limit

exhaust flow or produce back pressure, which causes a little slowdown in

your engine.
