Steps to calibrate a flow transmitter

1. Prepare the equipment: Obtain a calibrated flow meter, tubing, pressure gauge, and any
other necessary tools for the specific flow transmitter being calibrated.
2. Clean the flow transmitter: Clean the flow transmitter to ensure accurate readings. This is
particularly important for sensors that use differential pressure measurement.
3. Connect the equipment: Connect the flow transmitter to the flow meter, tubing, and
pressure gauge.
4. Set the flow rate: Use the flow meter to set the flow rate to the desired value.
5. Record the readings: Record the readings from the flow transmitter, pressure gauge, and
flow meter.
6. Calculate the error: Calculate the error by subtracting the actual flow rate from the flow
transmitter reading.
7. Adjust the flow transmitter: If necessary, adjust the flow transmitter to correct the error.
8. Repeat the steps: Repeat the above steps until the error is within the acceptable range.
9. Document the calibration: Document the calibration, including the date, flow rate,
readings, and any adjustments made.
10. Test the flow transmitter: Finally, test the flow transmitter to verify that it is accurately
measuring the flow rate.
