Recently at one of the stations there was an El output card related failure. While attending the failure, the SSI Data was checked and HR was in picked up condition and staff moved to field to check HPR. However, subsequently it was found field side was fine and that the HR physical relay had not picked up in Relay Room due to card failure. This resulted in loss of valuable time. The above mis-judgment could have been avoided, had the external data logger relay status been checked. It is therefore reiterated that in case of failures at El Stations, the status of relays in both SSI Data and external Data logger has to be cross verified at the time of failure, All SSEs are advised to counsel staff to ascertain same locally or from control.
