SG Tushar Mehta tells SC that though the government is of the opinion that
existing regime, regulators and agencies are fully competent to deal with such
situations, it would not oppose the SC's suggestion for a expert committee to
go into strengthening of the existing regime. SC posts further hearing on
Friday.

Centre agrees for a committee examining existing regime and regulator's role
in preventing meltdown situation of shares, as happened to Adani shares after
Hindeburg Research report, but insists SC could choose composition of experts
committee from names suggested by Centre.
