3. Warehousing • The government has estimated the
initiatives current capacity of cold storage
and warehousing at 162 MT.
• This still falls short of the market
demand to efficiently address the
rate of food loss in the country.
• Thus, need to promote storage
infrastructure and reduce wastage
of food grains.
• NABARD will undertake an exercise to map
and geo-tag existing warehouses.
• Creation of new & efficient warehouses
through viability gap funding on a PPP mode
at block level.
• This can be achieved where States can
facilitate with land and are on a PPP mode.
• Food Corporation of India (FCI) and Central
Warehousing Corporation (CWC) shall
undertake such warehouse building on their
