This chapter describes, through an example, the process of configuring SDH/PDH services on
the T2000. In addition, related engineering requirements and engineering information are
introduced. Through this example, you can learn how to configure SDH/PDH services and
other similar services.
The screen shots contained in this manual vary with the T2000 version and network element (NE)
software version. If the versions mismatch, maybe the screen shots look different with the actual one.
The OptiX iManager T2000 version is V200R003C01.
Title Description
Node A B C D E
A - 32 x E1 31 x E1 32 x E1 -
B 32 x E1 - - - -
C 31 x E1 - - - 32 x E1
D 32 x E1 - - - 31 x E1, 3 x E3
E - - 32 x E1 31 x E1, 3 x E3 -
The distance between any two nodes of A, B, C, and D is not more than 50 km. Node E is 80
km far from the nearest node D. The services between these nodes need network level
protection. Moreover, the central node A needs to provide TPS protection for PDH services.
Recently, these nodes may require service expansion and Ethernet data services.

The t2 and t3 indicate the E1 tributary board in slots 2 and 3 respectively, and t17 indicates
the E3 tributary board in slot 17. The number following the tributary board indicates the
number of E1 or E3 path. For example, "t2:1-32" indicates the first to the thirty-second E1
paths of the tributary board in slot 2. Numbers above the horizontal lines indicate the timeslot
number of the VC-4 occupied.
Take NE4 as an example. The service shown in the diagram is as follows.
(1) Configure pass through on NE4 for the 32 x E1 services from NE3 to NE5, occupying the
1–32 timeslots of the first VC-4.
(2) The E1 paths 33–63 of the tributary board in slot 2 of NE4 exchange services with those
of the tributary board in slot 2 of NE5. The timeslots 33–63 in the first VC-4 carry the
services.
(3) The E1 paths 1–32 of the tributary board in slot 2 of NE4 exchange services with those of
the tributary board in slot 3 of NE1. The timeslots 1–32 in the second VC-4 carry the services.
(4) The E3 paths 1–3 of the tributary board in slot 17 of NE4 exchange services with those of
the tributary board in slot 17 of NE5. The timeslots 1–3 in the second VC-4 carry the services.

Conference call
Howl tone may be generated if the conference call or orderwire phone is configured as a ring.
The OptiX OSN 7500 can release loop automatically for orderwire and conference calls.
Since there are not many NEs in this network, it is no need to configure subnet number for
optical interfaces of each NE.
1.3.1 NE Side
z The OptiX OSN 7500 has been installed.
z The single-station commissioning has been finished.
z The running indicator Active is ON.
z Optical fibers between stations are correctly connected.
1.3.3 Document
z Engineering planning information is available.
z After logging in to the T2000 client, the key F1 can be used to get online help.
z Manuals for the OptiX OSN 7500 and the OptiX iManager T2000 are ready.
If the T2000 server and T2000 client are installed on one computer, when logging in to the
T2000, the IP address and port number of the T2000 server are suggested as 127.0.0.1 and
9801 respectively.
If the T2000 server and T2000 client are on different computers, when logging in to the
T2000, the IP address of the T2000 server is the actual IP address and port number is 9801.
By default, the mode of the server is common mode. The mode can also be adapted as
security (SSL) mode. The port number needs not to be entered manually. Once the mode is
selected, the system automatically selects the corresponding port number. If the server and the
client are installed in different computers, the modes should be the same; otherwise, the client
fails to log in to the server.
In this section, we describe the procedure when the T2000 server and T2000 client are
installed on different computers.
By default, the initial user name of the T2000 is admin, and the password is T2000. To make sure the
security, the administrator should instantly change this password.
Step 1 Double click the T2000Client shortcut icon on the desktop to enter the Login interface.
Step 2 Enter user information and server address in the Login interface.
z User Name: admin
z Password: T2000
z Server: 129.9.0.254:9801
Step 3 Click Login. After the data is loaded, the Main Topology is displayed on the T2000.
----End
Step 4 Click the Main Topology, and the icon of NE2 is displayed. The icon is marked with a " "
above to indicate that this NE is Not Configured.
Step 5 Repeat steps 1–4 to create the NE icon for NE3, NE4 and NE5 respectively.
----End
Step 5 Click OK. After the Operation succeeded interface is displayed, click Close.
----End
Step 5 Click OK. After the Operation succeeded interface is displayed, click Close.
----End
The first method is recommended. However, if you wish to add a board to a running NE, only the second
method is applicable. The two methods are described in this section. You can select either of them.
Step 1 Select from the shortcut icons of the Main Topology and the mouse pointer will change
to a "+".
Step 2 Click the Main Topology to select the fiber source NE: NE1, and select the source board:
12-N2SL16, and the source port: 1.

them into the protection subnet. Select the default Node for Node Attributes. Click Next.
Step 5 Confirm link information and click Finish. A dialog box is displayed, indicating that the
protection subnet is created successfully.
----End
----End
The NE can trace external clock just like building integrated timing supply (BITS), line clock, tributary
clock and internal clock. To realize clock protection, you need to set at least two clock tracing sources.
Usually, the tributary clock is not used as the reference clock of the clock subnet.
To avoid clock interlock, neither configures the clock into a ring nor tracing loopback clock source.
PQ1/PQM/PD3 all has two clock timing sources. When set the tributary clock timing, be aware of the
mapping relationship between tributary timing channels and ports.
The first port maps the first tributary channel.
For the PQ1 or the PQM, the ninth port maps the second tributary timing channel.
For the PD3, the fourth port maps the second tributary timing channel.
The PL3 only has one clock timing source.
Follow the steps below to set the priority table for clock source .
Step 1 Right click the NE1 icon in the Main Topology and select NE Explorer.
Step 2 Select Configuration > Clock> Clock Source Priority from the Function Tree.
Step 3 Select the System Clock Source Priority list tab.
