Visgo Tátil Rafa
Visgo Tátil Rafa
same day that the poet Victor Heringer was found dead next to his apartment building in
Copacabana. I rested with this image of the poet’s body laying of the sidewalk of his
building and that reminded me of River Phoenix, who had an overdose on a sidewalk at
Viper Room nightclub 90’s California. He was an extraordinary young actor.
Ok. If a body falls off an apartment, there are huge chances it is going to fall on a
sidewalk, but everything might happen in between. This sounds like a mix of Guimarães
Rosa and Enrique Vila-Matas. I think of River’s lost gaze, of Jayme OValle’s sad (blue)
eyes, of the conection between Victor’s eyes and some secret plane. And I never see a
bloodstain, I don’t see anything, just the shadow of the body.
Up until then, the only piece by Victor that I knew was “I’m not a poet”, a brilliant
poem, which said things like these: “While I have a body/ which may be confused with
the body of a poet/ I’m not a poet […] I have the cold fingers of a computer technician/
but I’m not as sad as a barber.” These are three images, characters, people, men,
beautiful workers, who are peculiarly observant, careful, and delicate.
I got Victor, River, the World Cup on my mind, and when it happens I find out that I
urgently need to set up a meeting with romantic friends from Cuba. This may sound like
a joke, it isn’t. If there’s any doubts, can you PM me?»
