Virtual worlds
These environments provide entertainment, trading of virtual property, discussion groups, learning, training
and much more. Everything is simulated, animated, and supported by avatars. Many companies have
established presences in virtual worlds, especially in Second Life, mainly offering dissemination of
information and advertising.

(a) Find out what information is available to customers before they send a package.
(b) Find out about the “package tracking” system; be specific.
(c) Compute the cost of delivering a 10″ × 20″ × 15″ box, weighing 40 pounds, from
your hometown to Long Beach, California. Compare the cost for the fastest
delivery option with to the lowest possible delivery cost.
(d) Prepare a spreadsheet using Excel for two different types of calculations available
on the UPS site. Enter data to solve for two different calculations.
