Analyze
Action research seems easy and familiar. Since teaching seems to be full of
problematic situations and that teacher has a responsibility of findings solution for
everyday problems in school, hence teachers should do action research. This is an exciting
part of being a teacher, a problem solver!
Let us continue to examine and analyze what you have noticed and interpreted in

Reflect
A. Based on the readings you made and the previous activities that you have done.
1. What significant ideas or concepts have you learned about action research?

I learned that action research is a method of doing educational research that is

widely utilized by educators and professionals to investigate and eventually improve
their pedagogy and practice. Action research is critical in identifying gaps in the
teaching-learning process, an approach to more intentional, substantive, and critical
reflection that may be documented and studied to help educators improve their
profession. Action research enables educators to learn by their activities in order to
grow personally or professionally. In cases where continuous improvement is desired,
action research might be beneficial.

2. Have you realized that there is a need to be an action researcher as a future

teacher?
Yes / No _____. If yes, complete the sentences below.
I realized that in order to become an effective teacher who didn't adhere to one
teaching technique, I needed to be an action researcher. If I am an action researcher, it
implies that I can anticipate the challenges that my students will face in the classroom.
Through action research, I will be able to discover new approaches that suit and cater to
all of the learners' needs. I believe that action research will help me obtain a better
knowledge of the issues we may face in the future. Another advantage is that it will help
me create a tangible solution to the identified problem. Action research made me realize
that such problems are unavoidable in any teaching and learning process.

B. noticing helps a teacher spot problematic situation
C. much of the teaching time should be spent in action research
D. action research is an optional teacher activity
E. Write Action Research Prompts
OBSERVE
From what teaching principles of theories can this problem be anchored?

I have observed and noticed that Action Research begins with a problem or
problematic situation. Write an example of a problematic situation that you have
observed and noticed.

A PowerPoint presentation of the teacher's lecture is shown in an online class. She

does, however, feel that responsive discussion and interaction between the teacher and
the students is essential for an efficient teaching-learning process. However, the students
haven’t met the teacher personally and only know them from the four corners of their
screen. As a result, students are hesitant to join and participate in the teacher’s
discussion, which leads to ineffective learning for the students.

REFLECT

What have I Realized? What do I hope to achieve?

The most crucial aspect of being effective in virtual teaching and learning is to
connect with your students so they can connect effectively in the discussion. To do so, the
teacher must investigate the situation. The first likely answer is for the teacher to be real.
Because they haven't met yet, the teacher must provide a positive and comfortable virtual
environment for the students. Second, the teacher should be familiar with her students.
Despite the inability to meet the students face to face, the teacher must think about
getting to know his students. Third, there should be involvement in the process. The
teacher must encourage his pupils to participate and interact in the discussion. With
participation and cooperation as issues, the teacher must have personal and professional
qualities to maintain the quality of teaching and learning.

PLAN
What strategies, activities, and innovations can I employ to improve the situation
or solve the problem?
As a future action researcher, I can plan for an appropriate intervention like
"introduce yourself in the most creative way." The introduction must include your
personal information, strengths and weaknesses, talents, hobbies, activities you are
interested in, and a sample performance of any of these mentioned. Of course, I will not
be exempted, so I will also provide my personal info, etc.
ACT
If I conduct or implement my plan, what can be its title?

If I will implement my doable plan in the future, my title would be “Enhancing

Problem Solving Skills among Grade 10 Students, Jose Rizal, of San Isidro National High
School through Improved Inductive Teaching Approach”.
Work on my Artifact

Your artifact will be an Abstract for a completed action research.

Improvement of Reading Comprehension of CET4

by Jian-ping Lou

Abstract
This action research is aiming at improvement of reading comprehension
of College English teaching and learning, which is a major time-consuming course
with low efficiency in colleges and universities in China. The research subjects
were 134 first-year college students of science, engineering and liberal arts, who
were from either developed provinces or developing ones. The reading materials
used for this research were from passages of reading comprehension of CET4 of
each year. This action research went through two stages, at the first of which it
focused on improvement by skills-based teaching, but with not much
improvements obviously, and at the second of which, after a deep analysis, it
combined with text-based teaching and introduced linguistic and schematic
knowledge, and finally achieved a good improvement of reading ability with the
result showing significant difference, compared with that of the first stage.
