Mechanic , and 1 am the inventor of KAHMA CAHDS. Some peo-
ple ca11 KAHMA CAHDS a game , and it is a lot of fun to use the
cards , but 1 think of them as a tool , a tool you can use to instantly
put the ancient wisdom of astrology to work for you , offering accurate
guidance about the future-yours as we11 as that of others.
Celestial mechanics is the branch of physics formulated , mainJy
by Sir Isaac Newton , to enable us to describe and predict the forces
In日 uencing both the actions and gravitational attractions of planets ,
stars , and a11 the other objects in space. As the Celestial Mechanic ,
1 have invented KAHMA CAHDS to help everyone describe and predict
the forces inßuencing both the actions and the attractions of peo-
ple , the “ stars" of a11 the dramas being played out here on Earth.
A mechanic uses a set of specialized tools to tune your car so
it may operate at peak performance. As the Celestial Mechanic , 1
have tried to give us a11 our own set of specialized tools and these
thirty-six KAHMA CAHDS-so we may a11 tune up and tune in to the
knowledge available to us from the blending of both astrology and
an equa11y ancient source that is currently being rediscovered: the

knowledge possessed by what is termed our Higher Se lf, a term 1

will explain fully in a momen t.
But what, you might ask , do的 karma have to do with astrology? As
you may know, the word kαnna managed to work its way into general
use in the English language during the 1960s, when more and more
people in the We哎， myself included , were introduced to altemative
philosophies , particularly those of lndia，的ina， and Japan. 的rmαwas
used to describe the concept that for everything each of us did , there
was a co汀的ponding effect-either negative or posit附 (depending on
what we had done)--that we would encounter in the future in either this
lifetime or a future one. Karma was an equivalent of the advice given in
the Bible,“Wh atsoever a man soweth , that shall he also reap."
ln my own studies , 1 discovered a remarkable man named Edgar
Cayce , also known as America's Sleeping Prophet , and 1 found that
his teachings , especially about the concept of karma , struck a
responsive chord within me.
Edgar Cayce was bom on a Kentucky farm on March 18 , 1877 ,
and died on January 3 , 1945. During his sixty-seven years , he dis-
played a most astonishing gift of prophecy. After putting himself
into a light trance , knowing only the name and location (at that
moment) of any person in the world , he could successfully answer
questions , both personal and medical , about that person. He antic-
ipated , by decades , medical diagnoses and treatments that are now
commonly accepted as fact , such as the relationship between stress
and illness. His theories of karma and reincarnation , his medical
advice , and his predictions of world events have fìlled many books ,
enlightening millions around the world.
But it is his defìnition of kαrmαthat I'd like to share with you
now, because it explains why I've chosen to call my invention KARMA

CA RDS. Cayce defined kαrmα 的“ mee tin g yo ur self." He belie ved

that we are not th e innoce nt vi ctims of blind fate. We are merely in
contact with experiences that we ourselves have decided we should
undergo in order to full y explore our potentia l.
It is di [fi cult to believe that the painful ex peri ences we all encoun-
ter at different times are the result o[ a desire to explore our pote ntial ,
but bear in mind that Ed gωCay凹 ， in his trance s tate， αctuα lly hαd
α:ccessto what pioneering psychoanalyst Dr. Carl Jung would later
describe as the “ collective unconscious" and the sum total o[ all the
subconsciously stored information that has , does , and will ever exist!
Cayce's ability to make use of this cosmic library, called the Akashic
Records by the Hindus , explained the source o[ his seemingly e nd-
less supply of accura te information-information that he sometimes
disagreed with in his waking state. It was from thi s incredibly lofty
position that Cayce spoke; and it was about our Hi gher Self, the
observer and true participa nt of all our di verse lifetimes , and not
merely our indi vidual self, that Cayce was talking.
Our Hi gher Self knows that life is to be joyou s and experi e nced
to the full , both its ups αnd its downs. Our Hi gher Self, th e power
o[ whi ch Cayce docume nted so well in his thousands of “ readings ,"
knows th at our individuality is inviolate and survives , although our
bodies mu st change and return to the soil tha t sustains material
life. To our Higher Self, the individual life times it ex peri ences
throughout time are like unique talents we possess and ex plore at
different times in this life when the conditions are righ t.

vice versa) and coincidentally encountered a very delightful situation
that you wouldn't have wanted to miss? Have you ever experienced the
indescribable feeling of having a worrγing problem solved in a moment
of clear perception? Then you've been in touch wi 山 your Higher Self. If
you've ever felt---e ven for a moment---c ompletely at peace or secure in
the knowledge that your life's uniqueness was indestl11 ctible , a valuable
and essential p副 of the evolution of humanity, lhen you know what I'm
talking abou t. It's like standing on a mountaintop on the clearest of days
when you can see forever. That type of overview, the broad perspec-
tive that comes from being high above , is described as what is actually
“'j ust" another aspect of our being, i.e. ，。山 HigherSelf
To retwn to the KARMA CARDS and their inventor, the Celestial
Mechanic , for a moment , like any good mechanic , I've studied my trade.
For twenty years 1 studied the nature of personal reality through the
teachings of various masters of the world's philosophies. 1 have studied
the science of astrology for more than four decades. My strongest desire
has always been to get in touch and stay in touch 明白 my Higher Self
so that 1 could best do my p倒t to help humanity. And do you know what
1 fìnally realized? You're never not in touch with your Higher Self.
This tremendous knowledge and power possessed by our
Higher Selves is available to every one of us twenty-four hours a
day. We have to open our minds and realize our amazing poten-
tial for self-guidance. But that's easier said than done when we
are distracted by the thousand-and -one details of modern life. As
an inventor trying to benefit humanity, 1 saw clearly that what was
needed was a means whereby we could quickly and easily get in
touch with our Higher Selves in the midst of our daily lives so that
our inner guidance systems could be put to use on a regular basis.

As a practicing astrologer, 1 knew that astrology (from Greek:

αstron， meaning “ star" and logos , meaning “ the process of reason-
i 呵，" which equals star-logic!) possessed the ability to help people
realize their potential. By interpreting astro10gy‘s symbolic language ,
an astrologer is able to describe our character and what we can expect
to encounter, so that our free will can best make decisions. The only
problem is that we have to know how to interpret astr010gy's symbolic
language , and that takes years unless you use the KARMA CARDS.
In the lale 1980s, before the advent of lhe personal computer, 1
devised a way to fust distill and then combine lhe words of wisdom
that 1 saw as the essence of astrology's planets , houses , and sig f! s as a
teaching to01 with a quick and easy technique for answering questions
about the future by putting us in touch with our Higher Se1ves , and
the result was KARMA CARDS. The technique underlying my pioneering
invention has been called many things by many cultures; but in our
time this technique has , once again , been identifìed by the great psy-
choanalyst Dr. Carl Jung as his Theory of Synchronicity (from Greek:
syn , meanmg “ together" and chronos, meaning “ time"). Dr. Jung used
this theory of “ meaningful coincidence" to exp1ain the amazing accu-
racy of other oracles such as Tarot cards , the 1 Ching, and Rune stones.
His idea was that everything that occurred at the same moment had a
relationship of significα即令 if not of causality.
Without lhe energy of the person asking a question of the KARMA
CARDS or any of these oracles , they are only so much pape只 wood ，
or stone. But when you're in possession of the KARMA CARDS , or any
of these other oracles , you each become part of each other's past ,
present , and futur e-able to connect with not only your own , but
also every other person's past , present , and future by merely asking
the KARMA CARDS in the manner described in the following chapte r.
