DO WRITE: The project will be held in Barangay Dapiawan,

Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao. Datu Saudi Ampatuan is a
landlocked municipality in the province of Maguindanao,
Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao
(BARMM). It is a muslim-dominated and conflict-affected area
located in the southern part of the Philippines.

DO WRITE: The project will involve 10 youths ages 18-25

and 10 parents from the target youths. The participants will be
equally distributed based on gender with priority given to
persons with disabilities and ethnic minorities. The participants
will come from Barangay Dapiawan, Datu Saudi Ampatuan,
Maguindanao.

EXAMPLE

Mental health is a worldwide concern that affects

everyone regardless of race, age, religion, or gender.
According to the World Health Organization (n.d.),
approximately 20 percent of children and adolescents in the
world have a mental health condition. Moreover, mental health
concern is more prevalent in conflict affected areas. Around
one in five people in post-conflict settings have a mental health
disorder (WHO, n.d.). According to International Alert (2020),
Maguindanao has the highest conflict incidence in the BARMM.
For 2019, it recorded 1,137 incidents. Based on this data, it is
likely that youth in the municipality of Datu Saudi Ampatuan, a
conflict-affected area in Maguindanao, suffers from mental
health disorders yet there is a lack of evidence to prove it. This
project seeks to understand further the relationship of armed
conflicts and mental health of the youths in Maguindanao
particularly in Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao. It also
seeks to generate relevant data that will help promote mental
well-being in the community.
