entertaining for most viewers, and they certainly have an
influence on the younger generation.
Reality TV shows and talent competitions can be
extremely entertaining to most people in our society.
Some of them are popular for their drama and we all
know that drama sells while others are known for their
focus on a particular topic which the audience likes. The
scriptwriters and producers use a lot of techniques and
psychological tricks to make their shows more addictive
for the viewers.
Indeed, TV in general has an influence over the
population and especially the youth. Reality formats are
watched by a lot of young people and we can definitely
see a change in their behaviour when a new show starts
on TV. Due to the fact that teenagers and young
individuals who are watching thеse types of shows are
still developing themselves as persons, the “ people
above” the so called “Matrix” makes great use of that
and brainwashes the population. People make excuses,
reschedule meetings and even forget about day-to-day
activities just to watch an hour of drama. Similarly to
propaganda, realities use false advertising to make their
ideas believable. Eighteen percent of survey respondents
think that such shows are unscripted.
In summary, we can confidently conclude that
reality formats, talent shows, competitions with
members of the public are made to be entertaining,
addictive and influencing.
