HOTEL - Introduction
 A hotel is defined by the British Law as a ‘place where bonafide travelers can
receive food or shelter, provided he/she is in a position to pay for it and is in a
fit condition to be received’.
 Alternatively, a hotel may be defined as ‘an establishment whose primary
business is to provide lodging facilities to a genuine traveler along with food,
beverage, and sometimes recreational facilities too on the chargeable basis’.
 The facilities provided inside a hotel room may range from a modest-quality
mattress in a small room to large suites with bigger, higher quality beds, a
dresser and other kitchen facilities.

Hotel provide a service to their customer whose requirements are -


• Clean, quiet and comfortable rooms
• Good food
• Service
• Value for money

The body for site visit and rating is called the hotel & restaurant approval & classification
committee (HRACC)

 One Star Hotel : Small with basic facilities and plain food. May not be attached
bathrooms for each room.

 Two Star Hotel : Small to medium sized with more facilities. Attached toilet with well
furnished bedrooms. Cafeteria &Dining available within

 Three Star Hotel : Spacious reception and public rooms facilities like swimming pool
and gym may be there. Bedrooms offer more comfort than lower star.

 Four Star Hotel : Luxury & style in overall furnishing Style guestrooms are large and
have co-ordinated furnishing and decor. Bathrooms are spacious. Staff to quest ratio is
high. Services like bell desk. Multi-cuisine restaurant, laundry & dry-cleaning are
available.

 Five Star Hotel: Spacious and luxurious accommodation, facilities available are formal
and 24x7 highly educated and well-versed staff.
SCOPE OF THE PROJECT
1) Hotel industry plays an important role in the growth of the economy.

2) Hotels provide hospitality services to the travellers from different parts of


the world and also used for mass gatherings and meetings.

3) Enhancement in the infrastructure facilities of the area is an important


factor.

AIM OF THE PROJECT


1) To achieve a functional design with all the facilities and services along with
the aesthetics.
2) To offer home like experience along with the taste of luxury of a 5 star
hotel.
3) To create an attraction for the tourist without damaging the environment.
SITE STUDY
SITE AREA : 5.04 Acres (20396.16 sqm.)
LOCATION : Near, Sector 9, Amar Shaheed Path,
Awadh Vihar Yojna, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh
LANDUSE AND DEVELOPMENT :
The proposed site for the hotel falls under
Awadh Vihar Yojana as per the masterplan of Lucknow.
The development will be in accordance to the
Uttar Pradesh Awas Vikas Parishad.

SITE CLIMATOLOGICAL DATA
• The capital of Uttar Pradesh is a land locked city.
• The summers in Lucknow are very hot and winters very cold.
• The year can be broadly divided in to four seasons. The cold season starts from
December and extends up to end of February. This is followed by the hot
weather season which lasts till about first fortnight of June when monsoon
arrives over the region.
• The monsoon continue till September. The two post monsoon months of
October and November constitute a transition season from monsoon to winter
conditions.
