1ST QUARTER

Subject: ENGLISH Week: 7


Level: Grade 5 Date/Time: October 27, 2021/ 8:00 am

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson the Grade 5 pupils will be able to:
a. observe subject-verb agreement at all times;
b. identify the proper order of inverted sentence;
c. define inverted sentences;
d. construct inverted sentence.

III. PROCEDURES

A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson


 The teacher will have an interactive game with the pupils to start the
lesson.
Arranging the jumbled words such as:
unon - noun
unonrop - pronoun
tcejbus - subject
etaciderp - predicate
brev - verb
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson
 Recalling the terms noun, pronoun, subject, predicate, verb that is
correlated with subject verb agreement so that the learners will eventually
understand how to compose inverted sentences.

C. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson


 Asking the following questions:
What is a sentence?
Identify if the examples presented is a sentence or not
 Presenting the parts of each sentence.

 Present the following sentences and ask the subject and verb used whether
both agreed with each other.
1. A beautiful flower is in a bottle.
2. A tall man stands under the tree.
3. A woman was there in the morning.
 Present the following sentences and ask the subject and verb used whether
both agreed with each other.
1. The man and his wife live down the street.
2. The apples are inside the basket.
3.The tulips grow in the wide field.

 A song will be played for learners to further understand the subject-verb


agreement

 Discuss the rule in inverted sentence.

Natural Order-The obstacle course is at the park.


Inverted Order-At the park is the obstacle course.

Natural Order- My running buddies are here.


Inverted Order-Here are my running buddies.

 Ask to differentiate the 2 sentences presented.


 Tell the difference between the sentences in natural order and inverted
sentence
 Define what is inverted sentence

 Present the following sentences and ask the subject and verb of each
sentences.
 Everyday at the hallway, are Nestor’s friends.
 In Lily’s bag are books.
 From Room 3 comes Marina.
 Adjacent to my house is a bakery.
 In that corner sits a dancer.

 Ask how inverted sentence is constructed.


F. Developing mastery

Complete each of the inverted sentences by choosing the correct form of the verb
inside the parentheses.
1. Down that dark path (sit, sits) the haunted house.
2. Attached (is, are) a copy of the file.
3. Where (is, are) my favourite hat?
4. From the bowl (eat, eats) three cats.
5. Beneath the gigantic trees (nestle, nestles) tiny shade-loving plants
