I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
a. recall the role of the respiratory and circulatory system in
the human body;
b. identify the different parts and functions of the respiratory
system and circulatory system; and
c. explain how the respiratory system and circulatory system
work together to transport nutrients, gases, and other
molecules to the different parts of the body.
A. Content Standard The learners demonstrate understanding of
1. how the different structures of the circulatory and
respiratory systems work together to transport oxygen-rich
blood and nutrients to the different parts of the body; and
2. the prevention, detection, and treatment of diseases
affecting the circulatory and respiratory systems.
B. Performance The learners should be able to conduct an information
Standard dissemination activity on effective ways of taking care of the
respiratory and circulatory systems based on data gathered from
the school or local health workers.
C. Most Essential
learning Explain how the respiratory and circulatory systems work

IV.PROCEDURES

A. Introduction In your Grade 7 Science lesson, you were introduced to different

levels of organization and learned that human body is composed
of different systems. One of which are the Respiratory and
Circulatory System.

As a short review, who can give me the role of Respiratory

System in the human body? ….and what about the Circulatory
System?

(The teacher shows an illustration of unlabeled parts of the

respiratory system and circulatory system)

Describe and label the parts of the respiratory system on the

board.
(Present this Respiratory Diagram with unlabeled parts.)
(Call them one-by-one.)
Nasal cavity
Lung
Pharynx
Bronchiole Larynx
Alveoli Trachea

Branch of pulmonary vein Bronchus

Branch of pulmonary artery Diaphragm

Alveoli (enlarged image)

Next, recall to learners the parts that make up the Circulatory
System which are the heart, blood vessels, and blood. Go
deeper with the parts of the heart by

(Posting the unlabeled parts of the heart on the board. Let them
describe and labelled again.) (Call them one-by-one.)

B. Development (In this part, reveal the name of each part and introduce the
function.)

(Respiratory)

(Circulatory)
C. Engagement (In this learning episode, summarize what they learned from you
by utilizing this diagram.)

(Emphasize to them that circulatory system and respiratory

system should work hand-in-hand to achieve their role in the
body.)

D. Assimilation Read and analyze each item carefully. Choose the letter of the
correct answer.
1. Which of the following is the role of respiratory system?
a. Deliver nutrients, carbon dioxide, oxygen,
hormones, and wastes through the cells of the
body.
b. Deliver oxygen and remove carbon dioxide from
the cells of the body.
c. Act as framework of the body.
d. Deliver signals from the brain that response as
defense mechanisms of the body.

2. Which of the following blood vessels carry oxygenated

blood coming from the right lung?
a. Left pulmonary artery
b. Right pulmonary artery
c. Right pulmonary vein
d. Left pulmonary vein

3. Which of the following loads blood to the right atrium

coming from the upper body?
a. Inferior vena cava
b. Superior vena cava
c. Pulmonary artery
d. Pulmonary vein

4. Which part of the respiratory purifies and humidifies the

air?
a. Larynx
b. Nasal cavity
c. Pharynx
d. Oral cavity

5. Which of these is the correct path of blood through the

heart?
a. RA>RV>Pulmonary Arteries>Lungs>Pulmonary
Veins>LA>LV>Aorta
b. RA>RV>Pulmonary Veins>Lungs>Pulmonary
Arteries>LA>LV>Aorta
c. RA>LV>Pulmonary Arteries>Lungs>Pulmonary
Veins>LA>RV>Aorta
d. LA>LV>Pulmonary Arteries>Lungs>Pulmonary
Veins>RA>RV>Aorta
