ABSTRACT
A morbidity survey conducted by “Subdit Diare” showed that in Indonesia
children suffered diarrhea more than 12 times annually and this caused 15-34% mortality rate from all of mortality causes. The factor of public behavior in washing hand with soap is an effective way to prevent diarrhea disease. The objective of this research was to find out the correlation of maternal personal hygiene to children under five diarrhea cases in Way Panji public health center of South Lampung district in 2020. This was a quantitative research with cross sectional design. Population was all mothers with children under five in sick children under five integrated management (MTBS) in Way Panji public health center in South Lampung in 2020. 31 respondent samples were taken by using purposive sampling. The research result showed that there was a correlation of maternal personal hygiene to children under five diarrhea cases in Way Panji public health center of South Lampung district in 2020 (p-value = 0.02; OR=8.25). The researcher recommends Way Panji public health center to improve socialization concerning self-hygiene as diarrhea disease prevention and to enhance health promotion targets by involving children under five caregiver workers.
