I do say this at the risk of sounding pretentious, however, I mean (most of) it when I

paraphrase the famous Sound Of Music line – Evernote, Notion Habit Tracker and Calendar,
these are a few of my favourite things. I would not just say I have a habit of very structurally
managing schedules in my life, I have very thoroughly enjoyed it. Nothing comes close to the
sweet joy of getting a task done, and nothing is like the adrenaline rush of having things to do
on a deadline. Hence, I consider being a part of organizing an event much bigger and grander
than events in my life a way to channel what I consider the best part of my personality into
something meaningful and substantial. Another reason why I care deeply about being a part
of the Organizing Committee is I value debating and I want to be instrumentally involved in
hosting a competition that very fittingly aligns with my enthusiasm for it. More
fundamentally, being involved in organizing very appropriately follows the reason I chose
law in the first place – to solve problems. I expect being part of the OC would involve getting
through difficult decisions to come up with something innovative. I would love to actually
manifest this reason through the OC position.

While I understand the significance of each area for the successful conduction of the event, I
would personally prefer working in the Food Department. Quite simply, because I am a food
enthusiast, and would love to use my pure adoration for it to be used for something. But in
the grander scheme of things, being in association with the Debate Competition in any way
would be a huge learning experience and something to put all of my efforts into.

Being interested in organizing led me to be a part of the hosting of the Herbert Smith
Freehills International Negotiation Competition as a volunteer in the first month I joined law
school. I genuinely believe the wealth of wisdom I got from the exposure that came with the
competition would make me a suitable person for the job. This interest also led me to be a
part of the Organizing Committee of ICC National Rounds, being in charge of the Food
Department. But much more importantly, I am willing to learn and go the extra mile for the
skills I may lack that are required for this. As far as organizing is concerned, my other
experiences slightly unrelated to traditional organizing like working with Legal Services
Committee as a first-year representative, volunteering at the Centre for Alternate Dispute
Resolution, membership at the Centre for Cyber Laws and Centre for Corporate Governance
and teaching at IDIA all in the first two months I have been here would aid to bring the best
solutions to the table. Moreover, volunteering with the Centre for Business and Financial
Laws for organising Capacity Building on Competition Law was a learning in itself.

Very succinctly put, I hope my zeal for organizing and debating and keenness to be a part of
the competition convinces you to consider me a successful candidate. Rest assured, I would
not just work to meet the expectations, I would work to exceed them.
