UNDERSTANDING SELF

FINAL EXAMINATION QUESTIONS

1.) Compare and contrast how the self has been represented across different disciplines and
perspectives. (15 points)

Discipline and perspective are two components that are closely related with an individual or a person's self.
Everyone has a different level of discipline and a different point of view. People that share similar viewpoints
and adhere to the same discipline tend to get along well. Such people also have fewer disagreements with one
another. As a result, they are both associated with self. Like for example in religion they have a different
perspective when it comes to disciplines and perspectives they have their own moral tradition and their beliefs
like religion In Judaism, the self is the consciousness that exists between the holy soul and the animal body.
Focusing on the Holy Kingdom will empower it. In Christianity, the self is the triumph of good over evil.In
Islam, Jihad is the conscious self battling the body's wicked inclinations in order to achieve spiritual purity. In
the Bahai religion, you have the option of being a healer or a tormentor; it is your emphasis that impacts you
in the skill you have been given.

2.  Identify the different forces and institutions that impact the development of various aspects of self and
identity. (15 points)

- in my own perspective that Personal identity creation and evolution are influenced by a variety of internal
and external elements such as society, family, friends, ethnicity, race, culture, location, opportunity,
media, interests, appearance, self-expression, and life events Identity formation and evolution are
impacted by a variety of internal and external factors like society, family, loved ones, ethnicity, race,
culture, location, opportunities, media, interests, appearance, self-expression and life experiences. So
basically our surrounding that creates our identity the way we behave

3.   Discuss the relationship of sex and the brain.  (10 points)

- Sex alters our synapses, creating powerful patterns and behaviors in our brain. When you
become sexually active, the synaptic connections that help you resist sexual behavior weaken,
while the connections that drive you to participate in sexual conduct expand. Your brain has been
taught to accept sex as natural. The brain is important in the physiology of sex. It modulates the
automatic aspects of sexual arousal or desire and, by regulating the pituitary, influences
masturbation and gonad function, as well as the timing of puberty, plus it maintains the sex
organs and secondary sex characteristics, the hormones secreted by the gonads exert many
influences on the brain these influences can be described as organization effects that determine
how particular brain circuit into action. Through the process of sexual differentiation, the
organizational effects of testosterone and its derivatives result in variations between male and
female brains. The extent to which the human brain goes through a similar process of sexual
differentiation is unknown; brain shape and function are influenced not just by biological factors,
but also by learning and experience.
4.  Present your own way/s of unpacking yourself (sexual, material-economic self, spiritual,
political and the digital self).
   (20 pints)
- I think that to start unpacking or identifying yourself you must first begin to reflect on your own
actions in that place and ask yourself what changes you need to make in order to become the
person you intended to be first is the sexual self this types of self helps you to explore what your
sexuality is for example I am a bisexual man I am attracted to both gender this types of self is
important because everything start within yourself and after you identify of what your sexuality
and you you’re attracted to next is the material self which things that you like or you don’t like
materia – economic self helps you to identify your personality and your interest for example I like
to buy expensive clothes or I want to buy some skin care,my personality represent sophisticated
and well organized person or to look descent individual plus the economic self what is your
political belief and what is your political stand I think that politics can helps us to be open and be
aware of what is happening In our surrounding who are we going to support with, who is the
person to advocate are belief and do you thin that person is align in your belief or your opinion
perspective, to develop our economic belief by simply ask yourself it is going to be affect this
belief as a person they have a saying that what you belief is who you are and I think I agree some
of the part of that statement because economic self is a really diverse that other people will
debate that it is important to keep that belief in private so there will be no argument for that , the
spiritual belief is same goes for political and economic believe it should not gather together it
should be category.

- stress can be our biggest enemy in life especially in our mental health in order to overcome stress the
first thing you need to overcome stress is simply take a break, watch tv or do the things that you like, talk
about your problems to the people that you care about , relax and avoid scrolling some social media

again and in addition to that do some exercise and practice physical activities and eat healthy foods.

social media self I feel insecure with my classmates who are handsome than me who’s is taller than me
and who has a good genetics I feel overwhelmed when I see them face to face to the point that I am
insecure of what they have and that is something that I struggle with I tried to workout to be tall but I’m not
