iv Integration of HMI Configuration in SIMATIC iMap

1 General 1
Objective
The ProTool/Pro CS configuration software can be installed as a CBA component
in SIMATIC iMap and opened. This means that addressing information is available
for data access to SIMATIC iMap for configuring tags in ProTool/Pro.
You can use the ProTool/Pro RT process visualization software to visualize and
modify address information for data access to iMap, which is accomplished by
means of tags in ProTool/Pro.

Brief description
Visualization in iMAP is performed with ProTool/Pro. Thus all the functions of the
ProTool/Pro basic software are available in non-integrated STEP 7 mode for
SIMATIC HMI configuration – provided that these functions have not been
specifically restricted for iMAP by this configuration manual.
For the engineering and the runtime system, access to iMap data is not direct but
always indirect via the PN OPC server.
This means that only address information is available for tag values from iMAP.
This address information is furnished by the PN OPC server.
Existing ProTool/Pro configuration data are not automatically synchronized with
iMAP but managed separately from each other. This affects both changes in the
iMap database while ProTool/Pro is open and various changes to the OPC tags
(name changes, for example).

Note
The introduction of an existing configuration in the context of iMap data storage is
not possible.

2 System environment 2
Requirements
A requirement for the functionality of iMap integration is that the PN OPC server
(extended for iMAP) of PT2 (PN OPC server) is installed on the engineering and
runtime PCs, and correctly configured for CBA.
The ProAgent software package and support by Alarm_S require integration in
STEP 7 – and are thus not supported by iMAP.

Installation
Call the setup.exe file to install the component. When you install, you must select a
destination directory. The rest of the installation procedure is performed
automatically.
If installation has been performed successfully, you will find new library entries in
the SIMATIC iMAP window (refer to Figure 3–2).

Visualization environment
The ProTool/Pro visualization environment with iMap integration is based
exclusively on the PN OPC server. Since the present runtime environment of
ProTool/Pro satisfies this functionality only for standard and Panel PCs (currently
SIMATIC Panel PC 670), only these are supported.

Note
iMap has been designed exclusively for the Win 2000 operating system.

In view of the constraints regarding communication between iMap stations on

PROFIBUS, only SIMATIC HMI devices are supported on the Ethernet. SIMATIC
HMI devices cannot be placed on PROFIBUS in the Network View window of the
iMap workbench.

System environment 06/01

2.1 Integration in iMAP engineering workbench

SIMATIC HMI ProTool/Pro is configured as the visualization station in the network
view of the iMap workbench. For this, the iMap integration of ProTool/Pro provides
iMap library objects for them so that they can be selected from the device list of the
iMap workbench.
A separate library object is featured for each supported operating unit and each
resolution. The following operating units can be configured in CBA.

Operating Unit Library Name

SIMATIC PC, 640 x 480 PC_640x480
SIMATIC PC, 800 x 600 PC_800x600
SIMATIC PC, 1024 x 768 PC_1024x768
SIMATIC Panel PC 670, 10" PC670_10"
SIMATIC Panel PC 670, 12" PC670_12"
SIMATIC Panel PC 670, 15" PC670_15"
SIMATIC Panel PC 670, 12", Touch PC670Touch_12"
SIMATIC Panel PC 670, 15", Touch PC670Touch_15"

The library objects contain all the settings required for the iMap environment. The
PN OPC server has already been configured as a controller.
The ProTool/Pro configuration files are stored in the iMap project. The path for data
storage is preset and cannot be changed by the user.

Note
SIMATIC HMI ProTool/Pro must not be installed as integrated in STEP 7.

2–2 Integration of HMI Configuration in SIMATIC iMap

06/01 System environment

2.2 Configuring access to iMap engineering data

The PN OPC server is always used to access iMap engineering data. ProTool/Pro
uses OPC browsing to interrogate data. In this instance, the current data on the PN
OPC server are always used. ProTool/Pro does not synchronize at this point – this
is the responsibility of the iMap engineering system.
During browsing, the technological structure of the data in the iMap workbench is
retained. The information is supplied by the PN OPC server for this.
The OPC browser used in ProTool/Pro v.5.2 has the following appearance:

Figure 2–1 OPC Browser

System environment 06/01

2.3 Access to iMap runtime data

The PN OPC server is always used to access the iMap runtime data. In this way
there is no need to adapt the runtime system of ProTool/Pro in any particular
manner, since this address information of the PN OPC server is transparent for the
runtime system of ProTool/Pro.
Configuration of the PN OPC server on the runtime system is performed by iMap.
ProTool/Pro CS and ProTool/Pro RT only use the PN OPC server – but they do not
configure it.

3 Configuring HMI components in iMap 3
Opening a library
1. Open the option Library → Open Library on the menu.
2. At Search in, select the directory in which the ProTool CBA component is
installed.
3. Select the subdirectory Lib. That is where you will find the Lib libraries.

Figure 3–1 Opening a Library

4. Select the library Lib.cbl and open it.

In the window that follows, a new entry is visible at Libraries.

Placing an HMI device in network view

You can drag and place the HMI device from the library into the Network View
window. After you have done this, the HMI device is visible as a graphic in the
Network View window and also entered in the Network folder in the Project window

Figure 3–2 SIMATIC iMAP Window

Configuring the IP address of the HMI device

You configure the IP address in the Properties dialog box of the device. Before you
can do this, you must first select the device in the project window or in the Network
View window. You can open the Properties dialog box either by using the shortcut
menu for → Properties or by choosing the command: Edit → Properties from the
menu.

Opening ProTool/Pro CS
You can open ProTool/Pro for processing the project data by choosing the
command Edit → Special → Open from the menu. A completed configuration is
loaded in this instance. The OPC port is the default control. By means of the OPC
browser, you can now access the data stock of iMAP in ProTool/Pro.

Generating data for the ProTool/Pro RT runtime system

Runtime data are generated exclusively in ProTool/Pro CS. Generation has to be
performed after you have edited the project.

Marginal conditions for configuration

Due to integration in iMAP, marginal conditions arise which have to be maintained
during configuring:

Beware
• Do not save the configuration under a different name.
• Do not download to ProTool/Pro CS.
• Always compile before you exit the project.

Downloading data for the runtime system onto the destination device
To download the data, initiate the command Online → Download on the menu
using the iMap workbench. In this instance the destination device is defined by its
IP address. You can select the destination directory you require on the device from
a Save As dialog box. The default setting of the dialog box shows all the directories
approved for the device.
File transfer is initiated after you select the destination directory. You have to start
HMI Runtime on the device of your own accord.

Compatibility
The system is compatible with the SIMATIC ProTool/Pro v.5.2 SP 3 software.

configured in STEP 7.
C
Controller Generic term for devices and system with which the operating
unit communicates (SIMATIC S7 or PC, for example).
F
Function key A key on the operating unit with configurable function
assignment. A function key with global function assignment
always triggers the same function irrespective of the picture that
is currently open. A function key with local function assignment
(soft key) can trigger a different function in each picture.

Soft key A key with variable assignment (depending on the picture entry
being displayed).

T
Tag Defined storage space to which values are written or from which
they are read. This can be done from the controller or by using
the operating unit. Depending on whether or not the tag is
connected to the controller, a distinction is made between
"global" tags (process tags) and "local" tags.
