ALEXA!

Introduce yourself

Technological development has helped us in many aspects during our everyday

lives, where tools and devices have been devised to make life life easier, faster
and better. For example, technological development has contributed to the
creation of faster ways for individuals to communicate with each other and from
different parts of the world, and not only that, the technology went further than
that.

One of the most interesting invention is PDA’s (Personal digital assistant) it is a

software service combined with a custom device such as a smartphone, or just a
feature offered on a dedicated general purpose computer such as a personal
computer, tablet, smartphone or computer that can be worn like a digital
wristwatch, which offers an interesting set of capabilities, as digital assistants
respond and use voice commands to help owners answer questions, complete
simple tasks, We could all ask Siri or something to make a call to us or look for
the weather forecast.
The best example of personal digital assistant is the life savior: ALEXA!

What is Alexa?

If you ask Alexa a question, what she's actually doing is communicating with a
cloud-based service. Amazon's goal when it
designed the Alexa Voice Service (AVS) was to
mimic real conversations, but even to have Alexa
perform specific tasks you have to use certain
voice commands. And in order for Alexa to take
it, you first have to say Alexa, and then talk about
it right after, since Alexa is the wake-up word that
alerts the service to start listening to your voice, if you don't prefer the Alexa
name you can change for Amazon or Echo. But so far English is the only way to
communicate with Alexa, but the situation could change in the future. The
service is called Alexa because it contains an unusual X sound. Amazon wanted
to choose a name that could not be confused with other words that might
accidentally awaken the device.

Where can we use Alexa?

To be able to use Alexa, you will need a device with built-in sound technology.
This usually means a device on Amazon, like Echo or Dot or Tap. This cloud-
based personal voice assistant has also been integrated with some third-party
systems. FireTV is also compatible with Alexa, as are some external devices
such as the Ecobee Switch + light switch, the LG Instaview, and the Sonos One.
Alexa has also become the center of many smart home systems, including
Wink, Things and Logitech Harmony.

What is Alexa's list of commands?

Alexa's list of commands develops and grows daily. Amazon calls these
commands skills, and you can now create your own skills through Amazon
schemes. Here are some tasks Alexa can do:
-Find recipes and give audible step-by-step guidance with a skill (AllReports)..
-Get movie show dates or sports schedules.
-Order a pizza and find nearby restaurants.
-Pay your bills using Capital One.
-Order anything online.
-Give advice for pregnancy.
-Tracking Amazon packages.

Alexa now also has the ability to keep up with your routine, where something
you can assign .say “Alexa, good night”, and it turns off the lights, closes the
front door, sets the alarm on when you're putting it, and configures your coffee
machine to work at a certain time.
Amazon adds new possibilities to Alexa almost every day, for more skill and
hardware compatibility. If you want to know more about Alexa, all you have to
do is ask: (?Alexa, What's new with you), and she'll be happy to share updates
with you.
