Accounting is one of the most popular job or major in college, many people or prospective university
students choose accounting because it has broad job prospects and many companies need an
accountant. But do you know what accounting is?

Accounting, also known as accountancy, is the measurement, processing, and communication of

financial and non financial information about economic entities such as businesses and corporations.
[1][2] Accounting, which has been called the "language of business",[3] measures the results of an
organization's economic activities and conveys this information to a variety of stakeholders,
including investors, creditors, management, and regulators.

Accountancy history begin in 1494,when Luca Pacioli published a book entitled Summa de
Aritmatica, Geometrica Proortioni et Propotionallia. In the book, there is a subtitle "Tractus de
Computies et Scriptoris" which teaches the paired bookkeeping system. It was this subheading that
became the forerunner of the emergence of accounting. Over time, accounting began to be
recognized as a separate discipline. After World War II, the influence of accounting was increasingly
felt in the western world. For many countries, accounting is a national problem with national
standards and practices that are closely attached to professional laws and rules.

From this system, bookkeeping and financial statements can be arranged systematically and
integrated because they can describe profits, losses, wealth, and company property rights.
