Background

Dennis, a mud farmer of this settlement, has been thrown into a dungeon for
annoying the king. His mother is very worried about him. The executive officer for
the month, worried about the violence inherent in the system, has called a Image source:

1 If you have the codeword Spam ticked off, continue on your way. If you don’t, there is a guard here. He will let you pass if you
can prove your loyalty to the king by dancing with impeccable footwork and singing from the diaphragm. Make an ability test
with a difficulty of 3 (Perform, Nimbleness). If you succeed, he lets you pass. If you fail, you must fight him. However, you deal
with him, if you survive, tick the box for the codeword Spam.

If you kill the guard, you can take his ham, jam and spam. Gain 3 provisions. If you leave the dungeon, turn to 12

2 There is a chasm across this room. The only way across is a rope bridge. On the bridge stands a man with wild hair who asks you
three questions. The first two are easy. Then comes the third. Make a Fate roll. If you roll 1-3, turn to 9. If you roll 4-6, turn to 10.

3 If you have the codeword Black ticked off, the head is still here, hurling insults. If it is not ticked off, a man clad in black armour and
carrying a sword stands before you ‘None shall pass!’ is all he says. You must fight him!

BLACK KNIGHT Type: Humanoid Difficulty: 4 Damage: 2 Vitality: 8 Special: None Experience: 4

If you defeat him, tick the box for the codeword Black. His head still shouts insults at you despite no longer being attached to his body.

4 There is a monk in this room and a chest. The monk is called Brother Maynard. He is giving a sermon about some god from a book. If
you have the codeword Sermon ticked off, or if you want to leave, turn to the map and continue on your way. If you stay to listen to it,
turn to 11.

5 If you have the codeword Knee, the room is empty. You move on. If you don’t, there is a knight in this room wearing a full face helmet
with antlers on it. Upon seeing you, he says the word ‘Knee!’. For some reason, it brings up a feeling of dread. Make an ability test with
a difficulty of 3 (Resist Magic). If you fail, lose 1 Will point. If you have the codeword It ticked off, turn to 17. If not, you must fight him. If
you kill him, tick off the box for the codeword Knee and continue on your way.

6 If you have the codeword History ticked off, the room is empty. You carry on. If you don’t, there is an old man here in a patchwork
jacket talking to no one in particular. If you attack him, turn to 15. If you listen to him, turn to 16.

7 If you have the codeword Tim, ticked off, there is nothing here but bones. You continue on your way. If you haven’t, there is a white
rabbit in here, surrounded by bones. Upon seeing you, it flies towards you with a murderous squeak! You have to fight it!

KILLER RABBIT Type: Wildlife/Monster Difficulty: 5 Damage: 1 Vitality: 5 Special: None Experience: 2

If you kill it, tick off the box for the codeword Tim. you can search the bones. Roll on the treasure table.

8 Dennis is locked in this room. You can hear him shouting ‘Help, help! I’m being oppressed!’ You have to break him out. A special key
will open the door. If you cannot or will not use one, make an ability test with a difficulty of 4 (Lock Picking). If you fail, you need to
break it down. This is an ordeal that costs 4 Will (Strength, Hardiness).

Once he is out, you have to lead him back through the dungeon.

9 He asks you a difficult question. Make an ability test with a difficulty of 4 (Legend Lore). If you succeed, he lets you pass. If you fail,
you are flung into the chasm by magic and have to drag yourself out. Lose 2 Vitality points.

10 He asks you what your favourite colour is. You answer and then move on.

11 The sermon is REALLY boring. Engage in a battle of wills with the sermon. Listening to the sermon is an ordeal that costs 2 Will
(Resist Magic).

If you give up, turn to the map an pick a room to go to. If you take the ordeal, brother Maynard gives you a metal sphere with a
cross on it. It is filled with firepowder and blessed by his god. Add this item to your equipment list. It has an encumbrance of 1.
You may use it as a ranged weapon before combat. It hits automatically and deals 3 damage to a creature. If that creature has
the word rabbit in the name, it deals 5 damage instead. Then delete it from your equipment. Tick off the box for the codeword
Sermon. Turn to the map and continue on your way.

12 You leave the dungeon. If you have the codeword History ticked off, turn to 13. If you don’t, turn to 14.

13 A police officer is waiting here to arrest you. If you persuade, flee or kill the police officer, turn to 14.

POLICE OFFICER Type: Humanoid Difficulty: 3 Damage: 2 Vitality: 6 Special: None Experience: 2

14 If Dennis is with you, you take him back to the village which votes with a simple majority to reward you. You get 10 gold pieces and a
bottle of magic healing mud (encumbrance 1). Rubbing a bottle of mud on you counts as a potion of Cure. Gain 1 Fate point. You learn
lots about mud. Gain 3xp. If you don’t have Dennis with you, you flee. Lose 1 Fate point.

15 You chop his head off without effort. Tick the box for the codeword History. You continue on your way.

16 The man tells you very long tales about things that have happened in history. He also talks about how one order of knights
was scared of the word ‘It’. Tick off the box for the codeword It. Gain 1xp.

17 You keep saying the word ‘It’ until the knight runs away. Tick off the box for the codeword Knee and continue.
