I. Objectives

A. Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of how Anglo-


American literature and other text types serve as means of connecting to the
world; also how to use ways of analyzing one-act play and different forms of
verbal for him/her to skillfully perform in a one-act play

B. Performance Standard: The learner skillfully performs in one-act play


through utilizing effective verbal and non-verbal strategies and ICT resources
based on the following criteria: Focus, Voice, Delivery, and Dramatic
Conventions.

C. Learning Competency: EN9LC-IIIa-6.1: Extract important information from


argumentative/persuasive
EN9LT-IIId-20.2: Explain the literary devices used

D. Learning Objectives: 
At the end of the one-hour lesson, the students should be able to: 
 Analyze the meaning and message of the poem
 Extract the meaning of a word using context clues
 Extract important information from materials viewed
 Relate the poem message into real life situation

A. Analysis
- Teacher will present the video about the poem “The Telephone” by
Edward Field.
- The teacher will discuss and make definitions about the poem and
its message.
- Illicit some questions while discussing to check if they are following
the discussions.
Guide Questions:

 What do you think is the feelings of the speaker in these lines?


 Why do you think friends are being separated? In your own
opinion, what are some of the reasons why you are being
separated with your friends? In a positive way.
 How can you say that the one talking in this poem or the
speaker itself is experiencing the feeling of joy having a
telephone?
 To what does the speaker compare his situation in this lines?
What literary device is used here?
 To what is he hungry for? What does this mean?

C. Abstraction 

The teacher will ask the following questions to sum up the topic:
1. What is impromptu speech? Extemporaneous Speech?
2. What is the difference between impromptu and extemporaneous
speech?
3. What is mostly used between the two speeches?

D. Application 

Task 2. AGREE TO DISAGREE


This will be the students’ performance task wherein students will
be grouped into two. Each group will prepare their ideas oppositely
(first group for the agree side and the other group will take the
disagree side).
