Ed came from Calgary with his
band in the ‘60’s and stayed. He loved
river fishing and tied thousands of
flies in the days when Merritt was a
fishing destination. He made a living
playing music and started building his
house on Pine St that would help him
grow roots here that would last for al-
most 50 years.
Live music was everywhere in those
days and there was lots of places to
play on the weekends and work on the
house during the week with his wife,
Cassandra. They enjoyed simple plea-
sures together, camping in Kingsvale,
swimming in the Coldwater river, mu-
sic kitchen parties and later Ed would
join his wife in becoming one of Je-
hovah’s Witnesses and they shared a
close spiritual life and great happiness.
Ed succumbed to complications
from COPD but got to stay at home
until his last breath and never said
he was unhappy. Although he lost his
voice, he wrote a note before he died
that says ‘We can endure anything
with joy if we have hope’
Anyone who would like to come to
remember Eddy is welcome to meet
up at the Kingdom Hall on Saturday,
Feb 18th at 2:00 (1505 Sunset Rd.)
