The use of historical sources in the classroom.

ABSTRACT
It is important to bring History researched closer to History taught so that secondary education
has greater scientific value, this is the reason why this work was started. Some problems that
Didactics of History crosses in secondary education are raised. Two different didactic models
are exposed; a predominant model with a traditional expository base and a renovating model
with a constructive and investigative base. A fundamental part of the renovating model is to
propose ways of bringing the historian's scientific work closer to the classroom, whose teaching
intentions are; introduce the student to the complexity of the construction of History as a
science, while encouraging reflective critical thinking; in addition to favoring the acquisition of
new cognitive skills. The purpose of this research is to find out how many teachers who teach
high school history in Florida use historical sources in the classroom. The work focuses on the
use of historical and historiographical sources by teachers in the History classroom of secondary
education in Uruguay. Its precise objective is to find out what are the fundamentals of the use of
historical or historiographical sources in the teaching of History in Basic Cycle courses. To
achieve the objectives, the personal interview with the teachers with a battery of previously
thought questions was used as a methodology. It was found that very few of the teachers who
use historical sources in the classroom do so with firm theoretical foundations, rather they do so
intuitively.
