THE GOOD NURSE

Part I. Synopsis
The Good Nurse is a compelling film that centers on Amy Loughren, a nurse who
becomes friends with Charles Cullen after he begins working on her unit. Little does Loughren
know, Cullen is a murderer behind the deaths of multiple patients.
Why did Cullen did such crimes?
Cullen killed victims with medications such as the heart drug digoxin and the other drug
is insulin. The patients were about to be discharged when Cullen gave them lethal injections.
Why did Cullen did such crimes?
He stated that “I thought that people weren't suffering anymore so, in a sense, I thought I was
helping."
Part II. Analysis
My viewpoints on life and how carefully decisions should be considered before being
made have changed as a result of watching this documentary. To appear innocent, Cullen is lying
and gives everyone false information, which violates many ethical standards, and for justice,
some of the hospitals don’t give patients social fairness and they just focused on Culler doing his
crime, not his job. In addition, beneficence was also violated, as a nurse, we should do our job
properly to save lives and prevent their illness to become more worst without causing them more
pain this job requires us to do good, especially in following doctors' orders and the right
administration of drugs, and lastly, non-maleficence, “do not harm” this is the very important job
of every nurse, as a student nurse I ‘am learning that I should be cautious to prevent harm to the
patient.
There are a lot of learnings in this documentary, friendship is what we can offer to every
people we wanted to know better thinking they were like us. But this is not the reason to tolerate
wrong doings and do nothing about it. It hurts to lost a friend but it hurts more to see his/her
suffer from the consequences her actions made and thinking we are aware and did nothing to
help them to change and become better.
Amy did all her best to solve the case, she cooperate well to get evidences with the police
and other staffs of the hospitals, but for those hospitals who cannot give the patients justice they
were considered as a compliance and should be held as also guilty of the crimes.

Part III. Synthesis

In three-five sentences, summarize what you have learned.
The most crucial lesson was to never put your faith in others. Friendship is what we
can offer easy but trust is should be earned because if we trust someone too much it can hurt
us later in life. In addition, betraying a friend for their good shows that we care about them
and don't want them to become their worst selves. Even if it breaks their heart and ends the
friendship, what matters most is that they are prevented from hurting other people.
