Reading
1 Read the article about a trip to a festival.
My friend Antonio and I went to the Manchester Spanish Festival
last weekend. The festival happens once a year. I didn’t use to go,
but Antonio invited me two years ago.
I had a great time, and now we go every year. Antonio and his family
are from Spain, so he can tell me about the food, clothing, music and
dancing. Antonio loves the festival because he can enjoy his Spanish
traditions right here in Britain.
There is a special type of dance called Flamenco.
The women Flamenco dancers wear colourful dresses. The dresses are
usually red, and some also have white stripes. Other women wear red
blouses with long black skirts. At the festival, many people were dancing
together. Other people were singing and playing the guitar. Everyone was
very
friendly and happy. After the festival, we went to Antonio’s house. His mum, dad
and sister were there. I learned an interesting fact: Antonio’s sister Alba
I didn’t use to dance at the festival because I didn’t know how. This
goes to school with Carmen. Alba wanted to come with us to the
year, a girl was dancing near me, and she asked me to join her. I
festival, but she was busy. She was studying for a test on Monday. I told
