Discussion:
Classification of Branch Circuits: General Purpose Branch Circuit, Appliance Branch Circuit and Individual
Branch Circuit

General Purpose Branch Circuit – supplies two or more outlets for lighting and other electrical fixtures including
convenience receptacles.
Appliance Branch Circuit – supplies outlets intended for feeding appliances.
Individual Branch Circuit – supplies only one utilization equipment.

Activity:
▪ Using the attached Single Line Diagram identify which circuit is used for each classification.
The single line diagram shows the correct power distribution path from the power source to each
downstream load including the ratings and sizes of each piece of electrical equipment, the circuit
conductors, and their protective devices.
