1. What is the relevance of studying history in the present time?

Studying history helps to understand the present by giving us context and perspective
on current events.  History also helps us have a  deeper understanding of cultural,
social, political, and economic developments over time. It also helps in developing
critical thinking and problem-solving skills and can promote empathy and cultural
awareness. Also, history can serve as a source of inspiration and can provide lessons
for the future.

2. Differentiate History from Historiography?

History refers to the study of past events, people, and societies. It encompasses all
aspects of human experience, including political, social, economic, cultural, and military
events while historiography refers to the writing and interpretation of history. Basically,
historiography is the study of how history is written and understood.

3. There are several sources of history, enumerate the sources then differentiate
one from the other then give specific example.

A. Primary sources – “Raw material” or First-hand accounts or original

documents and some of the samples are diaries, letters, government
records, and newspaper articles
B. Secondary sources are Accounts or interpretations of primary sources, such
as historical monographs, biographies, and textbooks.
C. Tertiary Sources – these are Books and articles based exclusively on the
secondary source and usually synthetic in nature. Oftentimes, tertiary sources
contain footnotes that point researchers in promising directions with respect
to secondary sources. Samples of these are Encyclopedias, historical
anthologies, and guidebooks to name a few.
4. Why is criticism very important especially in criticizing sources?

Criticism of sources is important because it helps to assess the reliability, credibility, and
validity of historical information. It helps us determine the accuracy of the information
and identify any biases or other factors that may have influenced the sources. criticism
of sources helps to ensure the quality and integrity of historical research and writing
thus, helps us in understanding and interpreting the past.

5. Differentiate Speculative history from Factual History.

Speculative history is a genre of fiction that explores "what if" scenarios and alternative
histories. A good example of these are the historical dramas like Maria Clara at Ibarra
by GMA 7. actual history is a discipline that seeks to understand and interpret the past
based on the best available evidence wherein mostly based in primary and secondary
sources.

6. Discuss Non-Written Source of History.

Non-written sources of history include archiological artifacts, pictures, and physical

objects to name a few. These sources provide complementary information to written
sources and give insight into cultural, social, and technological aspects of the past.
They also allow for a more complete and detailed understanding of history by providing
insights into aspects of life that may not have been recorded in writing

7. Differentiate primary from secondary sources of history. Give 3 examples for

each.

II. CURRENT EVENTS

Give your reaction on the following;

1. INCREASING PRICES OF COMMON STAPLES IN THE PHILIPPINES.

There are a lot of factors in the increasing prices of common staples in the Philippines,
We cannot just simply blame just one factor for why it is happening. Aside from
inflation, we should also take into consideration the supply and demand imbalances,
weather, logistics, currency devaluation, and government policies and taxes being
implied. Addressing the problems requires a complex and multifaceted approach. Band-
aid solution is not the solution. These problems have been a problem for a long time
and requires a deep understanding of the underlying economic and systematic
problems to be able to provide a solution or at least, have a longer and sustainable
solution.

2. POLITICS IN THE PHILIPPINES THEN AND NOW

Politics in the Philippines has undergone significant changes over the years, both in
terms of political systems and the politicians involved. While the Philippines has made
significant progress in terms of political freedom and representation, there are still
ongoing challenges, such as corruption, electoral fraud, and the concentration of wealth
and power to its political allies. Addressing these challenges requires continued efforts
to deepen democratic institutions and strengthen the rule of law. But with the current
situation, I’m slowly losing hope and faith in the country.

III. DISCUSS.

1. Do you agree in importing commodities? Why or why Not?

There are pros and cons in importing commodities. But I think, there pros outweighs the
cons in importing. The pros in importing commodities are access to a wider range of
goods, Increased competition, and Improved trade balance. Because of these factors,
our local commodities doesn’t have any choice but to improve the quality on par with the
imported goods.
