(a) Use Remainder theorem to factorize the following polynomial: 2x3 + 3x2 – 9x – 10. (3 Marks)
(b) Use a graph sheet for this question. (4 Marks)
Take 1 cm = 1 unit along both x and y axis.
(i) Plot the following points: A(0,5), B(3,0), C(1,0), and D(1,-5)
(ii) Reflect the points B, C and D on the y axis and name them as B’, C’ and D’ respectively.
(iii) Write down the coordinates of B’, C’ and D’.
(iv) Join the points A, B, C, D, D’, C’, B’, A in order and give a name to the closed figure ABCDD’C’B’.
(c) If the lines 3x – 5y = 7 and 4x + ay + 9 = 0 are perpendicular to one another, find the value of a. (3 Marks)

(c) The data on the number of patients attending a hospital in a month are given below. Find the
average (mean) number of patients attending the hospital in a month by using the shortcut method.
Take the assumed mean as 45. Give your answer correct to 2 decimal places. (4 Marks)

(a) Find the value of K for which the following equation has equal roots. x2 + 4Kx + (K2 – K + 2) = 0 (3 Marks)

(a) Use graph paper for this question (Take 2 cm = 1 unit along both x and y axis). (4 Marks)
ABCD is a quadrilateral whose vertices are A(2, 2), B(2, –2), C(0, –1) and D(0, 1).
(i) Reflect quadrilateral ABCD on the y-axis and name it as A'B'CD.
(ii) Write down the coordinates of A' and B'.
(iii) Name two points which are invariant under the above reflection.
(iv) Name the polygon A'B'CD.
(b) Find the value of M if quadratic equation 3Mx2 – x + 3 = 0 has real and equal roots. (3 Marks)
(c) Using properties of proportion solve for x, given. (3 Marks)

(a) Using the Remainder Theorem, find the remainders obtained when x3 + (Kx + 8)x + K is divided by x + 1
and x – 2. Hence find K if the sum of the two remainders is 1. (3 Marks)
(b) A(-1, 3), B(4, 2) and C(3, -2) are the vertices of a triangle. (3 Marks)
(i) Find the coordinates of the centroid G of the triangle
(ii) Find the equation of the line through G and parallel to AC
(c) The marks of 10 students of a class in an examination arranged in ascending order is as follows:
13, 35, 43, 46, x, x + 4, 55, 61, 71, 80
If the median marks is 48, find the value of x. Hence find the mode of the given data (4 Marks)
