Thanksgiving Discussion Questions

Are you thankful that Death Games and Gladiatorial Combat are not legal today?
Are you thankful that Child Prostitution is not legal anymore? Here are some
questions to ponder on as we thank God that a lot of evil things in the world are
no longer legal. But are there others we should thank as well?
1. If your local City Hall suddenly said they were going to have a vote to reduce
your Church parking lot size by 25%, which meant fewer people would be able
to park on campus and people would leave the Church, would your pastor ask
the entire Church to show up at City Hall at the next meeting to fight it? Should
your pastor just be passive and let City Hall do whatever they want, especially
if you all knew that someone in City Hall hated God and Christians?
2. If it was legal for kids to be sold into sex slavery in the US, and you saw the
terrible damage it did to these young kids, should a pastor preach about how
evil that was in Church? Is it any of the Church's business? Why or why not?
3. Should your pastor try to activate your church to take action to change this evil
law? Why or why not?
4. Would it be heartless and evil and unloving to stay silent about it?
5. Does the Bible say anything about fighting for justice or protecting rights?
6. Should the church organize and plan how to change a law that permitted kids
being sold into sex slavery?
7. What if we could vote out the folks who keep that law on kids and slavery legal,
and then make it illegal? Should the church and pastors get involved in that, or
should they just stick to preaching the gospel? Which is more loving? Which is
more Godly?
8. Is preaching the Gospel enough for pastors and Christians?
9. Can you think of a situation where the Gospel was preached for over 200 years
every Sunday and Wednesday, and it didn't change one of the greatest evil
laws of all time.
10. How was that evil changed when it was changed? Who changed it, what did it
take to change it?
11. Which actions will spread the Gospel more? Changing evil laws to save and
protect the innocent and preaching the Gospel, or merely preaching the
Gospel?
12. Have Christians ever tried legislating God’s morality? Did it ever work?
13. Whom should we thank today for making Gladiatorial Combat, Sex Slavery,
Death Games, Widow Immolation and Child Abandonment illegal?
