TASK: DEFINITION OF SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE TO

CHRISTIAN FAITH.
Systematic theology is an orderly way of reasoning about God.

It is a discipline of Christian theology that offers an orderly account of the Doctrines of the
Christian faith.

Systematic theology aims at addressing issues of what the Bible teaches about what is true about
God and the universe.

This practice occurs every time a Christian says something about what the Bible says.

SIGNIFICANCE OF SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY IN THE GROWTH OF CHRISTIAN

FAITH.

1.A Christian is able treat all relevant Bible passages fairly for each topic without making them
complicated.

It analyzes every passage by taking time to relate it to other similar passages in the Bible.

This therefore helps grow Christian faith as it helps them treat all the Bible passages fairly.

2. Systematic theology helps a Christian be in a position to treat the topics in much more detail
elaborating on what it means to do theology singling out major words in a biblical verse and
explain what those words mean.

For example if a Christian says they believe in Jesus Christ, systematic theology explains what it
means to believe and what Jesus Christ is.

3 Systematic theology enables a Christian treat Biblical topics in a carefully organized ways

This helps us make sure that every topic receives thorough consideration and also provides a
check against inaccurate of analysis on individual topic so that every doctrine doesn't contradict
each other.

4. Systematic theology helps a Christian treat the summaries of Biblical teachings more carefully
thus one is able to organize the conclusions and summaries precisely to avoid misunderstanding
and exclude false teachings.

5. Systematic theology helps a Christian in reducing the propensity for moralism.

In focusing on redemptive history and gospel work of Christ, it draws the Christians' attention
away from moralism and directs them to the good news of the kingdom of God.
6. Systematic theology helps a Christian to ask the right questions.

Yes the Bible does not answer all questions; it attempts to answer the most important ones.

This helps grow a Christian faith as it helps one determine the questions by finding the answers
recorded in the scriptures.

7. Systematic theology trains a Christian to respect the full authoritative nature of all the
scriptures.

It attempts to understand the importance of all portions of scriptures and their contributions to
the theological message of the Bible.

Thus Christian is able to understand how all portions of scripture contribute to the redemption
plan of God in Christ.

8. Systematic theology help a Christian in reducing the likelihood of theological error.

With this, there is less prone to theological error hence a Christian faith is built as they are able
to avoid answering against the backdrop of the whole Bible.

9.Systematic theology also helps grow Christian faith as it create categories for understanding.

These categories offer connection that provides understanding in the midst of various
peculiarities.

This enables Christians to understand and relate their experiences in a way they will find
unusual.

10. systematic theology also provides a better interpretive method to a Christian.

As it seeks to understand the scriptures in relation to its parts in the progressive revelation of
God.

As a result it inclines itself to the principle that scripture interprets scripture. A Christian's faith is
able to grow as when seeking to understand the parts of scripture, it is not only compared to
other individual passages but to greater narrative of the whole Bible.
11.Systematic theology is consistent with Jesus view of scripture in that all scripture testifies
concerning Him.

This helps grow Christian faith as they are able take all scriptures serious as it testifies about
Him.

12.Systematic theology also refocuses Christian attention on God as the subject of the scripture.

13. It also demonstrates the unity of the Bible to Christians.

Many Christians are unaware that the Bible tells a single, unified and cohesive story.

While the Bible contains many stories, it is primarily a single story centred around God.

Therefore systematic theology seeks to display this unity to most Christians thus also a way of
promoting their faith..
