2. Pricing Models
You can order Cisco Business Edition 5000 and 6000 either independently using User Connect Licensing or as
part of a Workspace Bundle.
Both Cisco Business Edition licenses require purchasing a starter bundle. The starter bundles include all the UC
Hardware server software and media client software for the applications included under the licenses and the first
50 or 100 user licenses.
Cisco User Connect Licensing allows customers to license most Cisco Unified Communications 8.0 products and
future releases, including Cisco Unified Communications Essential Operate Service, on a per-user basis. With User
Connect Licensing, all right-to-use (RTU) fees, device license unit (DLU) fees, port licenses, and so on, are now
converted to a single Cisco User Connect License. As a result, customers have more flexibility to cost-effectively
license unified communications products. In addition, Cisco User Connect Licensing can be mixed with Cisco
Unified Workspace Licensing, making it easier to do business with Cisco.
Cisco Unified Workspace Licensing offers an easy and affordable way for customers to procure and deploy a broad
range of Cisco Unified applications and services using a single per user license. Cisco Unified Workspace
Licensing includes all the client and server software licenses, service, and software subscriptions that facilitate
consistent deployment of multiple applications to all users in the customer workspace.
Functionality available under the two licenses available for Cisco Business Edition 5000 and 6000 is described in
the following table.

For Cisco Unified Workspace Licensing, Business Edition requires a prerequisite three-year Cisco Unified
Communications Software Subscription (UCSS) contract, which entitles customers to upgrades for all the client
and server application software covered under the license. One-year agreements are available for government and
education customers subject to applicable laws regarding multi-year contracts. In addition, one-month contracts are
available to enable co-termination when users are added during the course of a three-year contract. A valid
Essential Operate Services contract is required to activate the UCSS contract. WebEx software subscription is not
associated with UCSS.
Unified Communications Software Subscription (UCSS) is recommended for new deployments. All licensed users
must have UCSS; no partial UCSS coverage is allowed. Refer to the UCSS section of this guide for more
information.
There are a number of significant changes to the pricing and packaging structure of Cisco Business Edition 5000
in 8.5:
● Cisco Business Edition 5000 is the new product name; the descriptor 5000 differentiates this offer from the
other two offers: Cisco Business Edition 3000 and Cisco Business Edition 6000.
● Voicemail is now unbundled from the User Connect Licenses. It is now possible to add Voicemail to a
subset of users.
● It is now possible to order two major versions of Cisco Business Edition 5000. Currently, 7.1.5b and 8.6.2
are supported.
● Cisco Business Edition 5000 now supports a new version of the MCS 7828 server. MCS 7828-I5 is
supported only with Cisco Business Edition 5000 8.5 software and is currently not supported with Cisco
Business Edition 7.X software.
● It is also now possible to order export unrestricted versions of Cisco Business Edition 5000.

available for Cisco Business Edition 5000 and Cisco Unified Presence for two major version trains.
Add more users: To add more users select the appropriate quantities of CUCM-BE-WL to match the number of
users. Use the same part number for both initial purchases and future upgrades. Please note that the licenses for
the first 50 users are included in the Workspace Bundle.
You can add Unified IP Phones not associated to an individual, such as conference room phones, lobby phones,
wall phones, break room phones, and other public space devices, to a Cisco Unified Workspace Licensing order.
Likewise, you can add analog phones or other analog devices such as fax machines, credit card scanners, and
other such devices that do not require any applications as well. In both cases only the right to use for the
corresponding phone will be provided and no applications (for example, voicemail, presence, or conferencing) may
be used with these phones. Public space IP phones may not exceed 15% of the total devices utilized in a
workspace licensing cluster, and total public space devices (analog + IP) may not exceed 50%. Analog phones and
public space devices are considered users under Cisco Unified Workspace Licensing, and so require Cisco Unified
Communications Software Subscription.

components.
When selecting IP phones for Cisco Unified Communications Manager Workspace Bundle deployments, there is
no need to purchase licenses for the Cisco Unified IP Phones (UCLs or DLUs) as these are included in bundle.
You can order individual applications not included in Cisco Unified Workspace Business Edition. UCL licenses can
now be mixed with workspace licensing. Customers can purchase the Workspace Bundle and order User Connect
Licenses for users that may not need applications like voicemail or presence.

1. Upgrade with UCSS (and convert to UCL) — This option allows customers to migrate to the User Connect
Licensing model and obtain the media kits for software upgrades to Cisco Business Edition 5000 8.5/8.6. This
option is also called 3x3 upgrade as the offer costs $3 per user and includes upgrades and software
subscriptions for 3 years. The offer requires UCSS for 3 years or more and the configuration tool will enforce
mandatory selection of UCSS for these upgrade part numbers.
2. Upgrade without UCSS (and convert to UCL) — This option allows customers to obtain the upgrade media kits
and license but does not require UCSS.

Customers may want to migrate to a newer version of the hardware to take advantage of the industry advances in
technology and hardware capabilities. To upgrade the hardware, customers can use MCS 7828 part numbers with
SS1 suffix to obtain the bare metal server and use the media kits to install the appropriate version of the software
compatible with the hardware. Note: Licenses have to be rehosted on the new server. Use licensing@cisco.com to
get the licenses rehosted.
3.8 Migrations
Customers may want to migrate to Cisco Business Edition 5000 from either standalone Cisco Communications
Manager or Communications Manager Express. The following table specifies what is supported from a hardware,
data, software, and user license perspective while migrating to Cisco Business Edition 5000.
Hardware All phone models in the customer’s current Unified CME or Unified CM deployments can be reused with BE 5000.
ISR can be repurposed as a voice gateway for PSTN connectivity or as a WAN router.
Currently, BE 5000 is supported only on the MCS 7828 Hardware server. So all migrations to BE 5000 require the
purchase of a new MCS 7828 server.
User and User and configuration data have to be reprovisioned on the new BE 5000 system.
Configuration Data
Software and User Customers can leverage the 3x3 upgrade part numbers to migrate the phone and user software licenses from Unified
License CME or CM environments. All migrations require the purchase of the starter bundle since the media, MCS 7828 hardware
and base licenses (24 voicemail ports for Unity Connection messaging component as well as the base node license for
Unified CM component) are shipped with the starter bundle.
The customer then needs to purchase upgrade user licenses. The upgrade user licenses do not ship with Voicemail and
Phone licenses and therefore would require the global licensing operations team to generate new or rehost licenses.
Please follow the process outlined below to get the licenses generated for the upgrade users.
Once the order is placed, send an email to licensing@cisco.com with the sales order number of the upgrade order to get
the appropriate number of voicemail as well as phone licenses issued. See example below.
A customer who has 100 7940 phones on Unified CME with voicemail for all 100 users supported on the Cisco Unity
Express solution can:
1) Order MCS7828I5-K9-BE8E, qty 1 (under Top Level UNIFIED-CMBE5K). This part number includes HW and
base licenses required for Cisco Business Edition 5000 software.
2) Order UPG-BE5K-ENH (under Top Level R-UNIFIED-CMBE5K), qty 100 to migrate the 100 enhanced users.
3) Order UPG-BE5K-VMB2A (under Top Level R-UNIFIED-CMBE5K), qty 100 to migrate the 100 VM users to
Advanced VM users on Cisco Business Edition 5000. To migrate to Advanced VM users you do not need to
migrate to Basic first. Alternatively, you can choose to migrate to Basic voicemail by choosing UPG-BE5K-VMBAS.
3) Select the version, VERSION-8.X.
4) Order mandatory UCSS for 100 users, UCSS-BE-KENH-3-1, qty 100, UCSS-BE-KVMA-3-1 qty 100.
5) Send email to licensing@cisco.com to get voicemail and phone licenses generated for the 100 users. In the
email request please note it is a BE 5000 3x3 migration and provide the MAC address of the server.

Migration to Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Cisco Unity Connection
Customers that want to migrate from Cisco Business Edition to standalone Cisco Unified Communications
Manager and Cisco Unity Connection should follow the process outlined below.
Hardware All phone models in the customer’s current Business Edition 5000 deployments can be reused with Unified CM.
The MCS 7828 server can be reused to deploy Unified CM. Note MCS 7828 is not supported for Cisco Unity
Connection deployment. MCS 7828 server supports the same capacity and performance characteristics as the MCS
7825 server for Unified CM.
If the customer needs to deploy Cisco Unity Connection a separate MCS or UCS server is required. Please refer to
Cisco Unity Connection ordering guide for more details.
User and Configuration User and configuration data have to be reprovisioned on the Unified CM and Cisco Unity Connection system.
Data
Software and User Customers can leverage the 3x3 upgrade promotion to migrate software and user licenses from Business Edition
License 5000 to Unified CM environments. Please refer to Unified CM ordering guide for details on the upgrade part
numbers.
The upgrade users do not ship with Voicemail and Phone licenses and, therefore, would require the global licensing
operations team to generate new or rehost licenses.
Please follow the process outline below to get the licenses generated for the upgrade users.
Once the order is placed, send an email to licensing@cisco.com with the sales order number of the upgrade order to
get the appropriate number of voicemail as well as phone licenses issued.
Cisco offers migrations to Cisco Unified Workspace Licensing Standard Edition or Professional Edition for existing
Cisco Business Edition 5000 customers. When customers outgrow the system capacity of the Cisco Business
Edition 5000, they can migrate to discrete Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Cisco Unity Connection
systems by purchasing Cisco Unified Workspace Migration licenses. Please refer to the Cisco Unified Workspace
Licensing ordering guide for more details on the part numbers.
Customers who already have purchased and deployed a Cisco Business Edition 5000 system with phones and
associated licenses (DLUs) or User Connect Licenses are eligible to upgrade to Cisco Unified Workspace
Licensing Business Edition and can do so by following these steps.

You can also add Cisco Unified Presence, Contact Center application, and Cisco Unified Attendant console
software and user licenses using standard part numbers available for ordering the applications.

Step 1. Start with the Top Level part number. The Top Level part number allows you to configure the
starter bundle and software option.
CMBE6K-UCL Cisco Business Edition 6000 – Top Level part number $0 N/A N/A
Step 2. Select the starter bundle. The Cisco Business Edition 6000 starter bundle includes the UCS
C200 server, Basic User Connect Licenses and Advanced Voicemail licenses for the first 50
or 100 users. The starter bundle part number includes Unified CM and Cisco Unity
Connection software installation and recovery media kits along with base licenses and
voicemail ports.

Note: Please do not use part numbers with prefix or suffix UPG to upgrade the license. UPG part
numbers are used for software version upgrade and not license upgrade.
Step 6. Select Cisco Unified Communications Manager software version. Cisco Business Edition
6000 supports export unrestricted as well as standard software images. There is no extra
cost for high availability options with Cisco Business Edition 6000. There are two options to
order redundancy – you can order one starter bundle and add a secondary UCS C200 server
(or an MCS server) or order two starter bundles. It is more cost effective to order redundancy
by ordering two starter bundles for 150 users or more.
To order high availability licenses for use with a secondary UCS C200 (or MCS) server please select quantity 2 for
the call control software option. This ensures correct licenses are provided with the order.
In addition to UNITYCN8-VMWARE quantity 1 (or UNITYCN8-VMWARE-XU for export unrestricted version of the
software) select UNITYCN8-HA-VMWARE for high availability on Unity Connection.

To order redundancy using two starter bundles, you need to enter the second bundle as a separate line item in the
order. You cannot select multiple starter bundles under the Top Level part number and enter as a single line item in
the order. For each line item that includes the bundles, you need to select quantity 1 for the call control software
option as well as Voice messaging software option. For Unity Connection, select UNITYCN8-HA-VMWARE.
Please see the example at the end of section 4.3.
Step 7. Select VMware License (optional): Cisco Business Edition 6000 requires virtualization
software (VMware ESXi 4.X or above) to run the applications coresident on the UCS C200
platform The virtualization software (VMware Hypervisor) is now embedded with Cisco
Business Edition 6000.
Note: Select the following part number for VMware Hypervisor software and license to be included in the
order. To order high availability licenses for use with a secondary UCS C200 (or MCS) server please select
quantity 2 for the following part number. For ordering redundancy using two starter bundles select quantity 1 of the
VMware part number for each bundle line item in the order.

Alternatively, if an advanced version of VMware license is required (for example, vCenter compatibility feature)
customers can order the VMware Foundation license from Cisco instead of the VMware Hypervisor license above.
Note: Currently the VMware Foundation license is a separate Top Level part number and must be entered as a
separate line item in the order.
VMware foundation license provides vCenter Compatibility feature and is available from Cisco through the
following part number. VMware foundation and hypervisor licenses are embedded software licenses and are
required to be used only in conjunction with applicable Cisco Unified Communications applications on Unified
Computing systems. They are not general purpose licenses that can be used to virtualize any third-party
applications.

4.6 Software Upgrades
An upgrade involves changing the Cisco Business Edition 6000 software on a customer’s existing server to a more
recent version of Cisco Business Edition 6000 software.
1. Upgrade with UCSS (and convert to UCL) — This option allows customers obtain the media kits and licenses
for software upgrades to Cisco Business Edition 6000. This option is also called 3x3 upgrade as the offer costs
$3 per user and includes upgrades and software subscriptions for 3 years. The offer requires UCSS for 3
years or more and the configuration tool will enforce mandatory selection of UCSS for these upgrade part
numbers.
2. Upgrade without UCSS (and convert to UCL) — This option allows customers to obtain the upgrade media kits
and license but does not require UCSS.

4.7 Migrations
Customers may want to migrate to Cisco Business Edition 6000 from Cisco Business Edition 5000 or Cisco Unified
Communications Manager Express or Unified Communications Manager. The following table specifies what is
supported from a hardware, data, software, and user license perspective while migrating to Cisco Unified Business
Edition 5000 or 6000.
Hardware All phone models in the customer’s current Unified CME or Business Edition 5000 deployments can be reused with
Cisco Business Edition 6000.
ISR can be repurposed as a voice gateway for PSTN connectivity or as a WAN router.
Currently Business Edition 6000 is supported only on UCS C200 Hardware server. So all migrations to Business Edition
6000 require the purchase of the Business Edition 6000 starter bundle.
User and User and configuration data have to be reprovisioned on the new Business Edition 6000 system.
Configuration Data

Software and User Customers can leverage the 3x3 upgrade part numbers to migrate phone and user software licenses from Unified CME
License or Business Edition 5000 environments. All migrations require the purchase of the starter bundle since the media, UCS
hardware, and base licenses are shipped with the starter bundle.
The customer then needs to purchase upgrade users. The upgrade users do not ship with Voicemail and Phone
licenses and therefore would require the global licensing operations team to generate new or rehost licenses.
Please follow the process outline below to get the licenses generated for the upgrade users.
Once the order is placed, send an email to licensing@cisco.com with the sales order number of the upgrade order to
get the appropriate number of voicemail as well as phone licenses issued. Please see example below.
A customer with 100 7940 phones on Unified CME with voicemail for all 100 users supported on the Cisco Unity
Express solution:
1) Order BE6K-UCL-50USR Qty 1 - This part number includes HW and base licenses required for Business
Edition software.
2) Order UPG-BE6K-ENH qty 100 (Under R-UNIFIED-CMBE6K) to migrate the 100 enhanced users
3) Order UPG-BE6K-VM qty 100 (Under R-UNIFIED-CMBE6K) to migrate the 100 VM users to advanced VM
users on Business Edition 6000.
4) Select call control and messaging options.
5) Order mandatory UCSS for 100 users UCSS-BE-KENH-3-1 qty 100, UCSS-BE-KVMA-3-1 qty 100
6) Send email to licensing@cisco.com to get voicemail and phone licenses generated for the 100 users.
Cisco offers migrations to Cisco Unified Workspace Licensing — Standard Edition or Professional Edition for
existing Cisco Business Edition 6000 customers. When customers outgrow the system capacity of the Cisco
Business Edition 6000, they can migrate to discrete Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Cisco Unity
Connection systems by purchasing Cisco Unified Workspace Migration licenses. Please refer to the Cisco Unified
Workspace Licensing ordering guide for more details on the part numbers.
Customers who already have purchased and deployed a Cisco Business Edition 6000 system with phones and
associated User Connect Licenses are eligible to upgrade to Cisco Unified Workspace Licensing Business Edition
and can do so by following the steps outlined below.
Step 3. Select required appropriate 3-year Cisco Unified Communications Software Subscription
(UCSS) contract.
Step 4. Select required appropriate Cisco Essential Operate Services for contract term of 3 years.
Cisco Essential Operate Services is required to have an active UCSS contract in place and is
separate from Cisco Unified Workspace Licensing.
