Q1. What is Aadhaar?

Aadhaar number is a 12-digit numeric identity provided by the UIDAI (Unique


Identification Authority of India), to all Indian citizens. Through this process, the
biometric and demographic data of individuals is collected and stored in a
centralized database.

Q2. What is E-Aadhaar?

E-Aadhaar is a password protected electronic copy of Aadhaar, which is digitally


signed by the competent Authority of UIDAI.

Q3. What is difference between Aadhaar and E-Aadhaar?

The difference between Aadhaar card and E-Aadhaar is that the former is a hardcopy
and the latter is a soft copy which can be saved on your phone. Aadhaar card is
sent by post, whereas the E-Aadhaar can be downloaded on UIDAI portal.

However, in case if your Aadhaar card is updated only with year of birth (YYYY)
instead of complete Date Of Birth details (DOB) (DD/MM/YYYY) i.e., if DOB on
Aadhaar card is shown as ‘1995’ instead of ‘15/03/1995’, we suggest you submit
the E-Aadhaar copy, as the E-Aadhaar copy will reflect the complete DOB details.

Q4. How to download E-Aadhaar?

Below mentioned are the steps to download E-Aadhaar from UIDAI portal

Step 1: Login to UIDAI Portal (https://uidai.gov.in/ or


https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in)

Step 2: Enter your details such as: Aadhaar number, Full name, Pin code of your
residential address and Captcha image.

Step 3: Click on Get One Time Password button to get OTP on registered mobile.

Step 4: Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.

Step 5: Click on “Validate and Download” button to download.

Step 6: Enter the password and click on submit to open the e-Aadhaar card.

Step 7: Your e-Aadhaar card will be downloaded in a PDF format.

Note: You cannot download the E-Aadhaar in case your phone number is not linked
with Aadhaar, hence request you to get your phone number linked with Aadhaar for
downloading E-Aadhaar copy.

Q5. How to download E-Aadhaar using Enrolment Number (EID)

In case you have not received your Aadhaar card yet or have forgotten your
Aadhaar number, you can still download your e-Aadhaar by entering the Aadhaar
Enrolment Number (EID).
Below are the steps to download your e-Aadhaar card through enrolment number:

Step 1: Login to UIDAI Portal (https://uidai.gov.in/ or


https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in)

Step 2: Click “Download Aadhaar” button

Step 3: Enter your 14-digit enrolment ID number and 14-digit time and date values

Step 4: Enter your full name, pin code, image captcha code

Step 5: Click “Get One Time Password” to generate an OTP

Step 6: You will receive the OTP on your registered mobile number

Step 7: Enter the OTP & click on “Download Aadhaar” option

Step 8: Press “Confirm” Button.

Note: You cannot download the E-Aadhaar in case if your phone number is not
linked with Aadhaar, hence request you to get your phone number linked with
Aadhaar for downloading E-Aadhaar copy.

Q6. What Is the Password of E-Aadhaar?

The PDF format of E-Aadhaar Card is password protected for security reasons. Your
password will be a combination of the first 4 letters of name in CAPITAL and the
year of birth (YYYY).

Example 1 :

Name: SURESH KUMAR

Year of Birth: 1990

Password: SURE1990

Example 2 :

Name: SAI KUMAR RAJU

Year of Birth: 1990

Password: SAIK1990

Example 3 :

Name: P. KUMAR

Year of Birth: 1990

Password: P.KU1990

Example 4 :

Name: RIA
Year of Birth: 1990

Password: RIA1990

Q7. Is E-Aadhaar equally valid like physical copy of Aadhaar?

As per Aadhaar Act, e-Aadhaar is equally valid as the hard copy of Aadhaar, for all
purposes.

Q8. In which app I can download my E-Aadhaar card easily?

You can download your E-Aadhaar card from UIDAI official site. But for this service
you should have a registered mobile number with aadhaar card and for being able
to print your Aadhaar card, you have to enter an OTP which will be sent to your
registered mobile number.

If you did not register your mobile number yet, then you must contact your
Aadhaar enrolment center where either you can register/link your mobile number
with your aadhaar card or take print of your Aadhaar through your enrollment
receipt

Q9. I am unable to download E-Aadhaar, why?

In case you are still unable to download your Aadhaar card, then we recommend
you visit the nearest Aadhaar regional office. You can also contact Aadhaar office
via call/mail/social media or by post and they will help you.

Note: If you are having trouble in opening your E-Aadhaar it can be due to
incorrect password being entered. E-Aadhaar is a password protected document
which can be downloaded by entering the postal code of the applicant which is
registered on his/her Aadhaar card.

Q10. How can I download an E-Aadhaar without providing a registered


mobile number?

You can download Aadhaar card online without your registered mobile number only
if you have your ‘Enrollment Id’. In case you have lost or misplaced your registered
mobile phone you can download the Aadhaar card by using your ‘Enrollment id’.
Below mentioned details are mandatory to download Aadhaar Card without
registered mobile:
 Enrollment ID
 Rregistered full name
 Amobile number
 Area pin code.
Below are the steps to download E-Aadhaar card without Mobile Number but
with Enrollment ID

Login to UIDAI Portal (https://uidai.gov.in/ or https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in)

Select Enrollment ID (EID) radio button under option ”I have”.

 Enter your Full Registered Name.


 Enter either e-mail or mobile number.
 Enter security code and click on Get OTP button.
 After that you will get one-time password to your entered mobile number or
e-mail Id.
 Enter received OTP and click on verify OTP.
 Then click on Validate and download.
 We will get one pdf file click on save and ok that file.
 Now open downloaded password protected file. The password will be your
area pin code filled in your form.

If you don’t have your Enrollment id. You must visit your nearest local aadhaar
card center and there you can get your aadhaar card and update your information
in the center. You can also get the address of your nearest aadhaar center from
the official web site.
