First of all the writer's deepest thank To Allah SWT, the lord of theuniverse an to
our prophet Muhammad SAW, may peace and blessing be upon him, his family and his
followers.

The writer can finish this paper on time. It is one of the assignments in English
subject, the entitled “Conjunction” This is not a perfect model so the writer expects the
critic and suggestion in order to make it better.

Hopefully this paper can be used as a reference to learn about the Conjuction.

 CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION
A. Background

English has become an international language, meaning that it is the language used
throughout the world and as a liaison between countries. Therefore, like it or not, anyone
who wants to be successful must master this language. Moreover, facing free international
trade competition, where trade markets between countries become more open, so that
foreigners will be more free to enter and leave a country. With mastery of the English
language, of course, it will really help communication if there are citizens of other countries
visiting our area.
In this paper we will discuss about conjunction (connecting words) as continuation of
the discussion of previous papers.

Bahasa inggris telah menjadi bahasa internasional, artinya Bahasa yang digunakan di
seluruh dunia dan sebagai Bahasa penghubung antar negara. Oleh karena itu mau tidak mau,
siapapun yang ingin sukses mestilah menguasai Bahasa ini. Apalagi menghadapi persaingan
perdagangan bebas internasional, dimana pasar perdagangan antar negara menjadi lebih
terbuka, sehingga orang-orang asing akan lebih leluasa keluar masuk sebuah negara. Dengan
penguasaan Bahasa inggris tentu saja akan sangat membantu komunikasi seandainya ada
warga negara lain berkunjung ke daerah kita.
Dalam makalah ini kami akan membahas tentang conjunction (kata penghubung)
sebagai lanjutan dari pembahasan makalah sebelumnya.

DISCUSSION
A. Meaning of Conjuntion

Conjunction is a word to connect words, phrases, or sentences and so on, and not for any
other purpose or purpose.
Conjuntions are not connected with objects, conjuntions do not explain words,
conjuntions only connect words or sentences and so on. Therefore the same word can be a
preposition in one part, an adverb in another part, or a conjunction in another part too.

Conjunction (kata sambung) adalah kata untuk menghubungkan kata-kata, ungkapan-

ungkapan, atau kalimat-kalimat dan sebagainya, dan tidak untuk tujuan atau maksud lain.
Konjungsi tidak dihubungkan dengan objek, konjungsi tidak menerangkan kata,
konjungsi hanya menghubungkan kata-kata atau kalimat-kalimat dan sebagainya. Oleh
karena itu kata yang sama dapat merupakan preposisi dalam bagian yang satu, adverb dalam
bagian yang lain, atau konjungsi dalam bagian yang lain pula.

B. Use of Conjuntion

a) And…so
The use of and so for 2 sentences that are both positive (+). An example with the simple
present tense, using the verb be (am, are is) with the adjective fine/fain/=good.

Penggunaan and so untuk 2 kalimat yang sama-sama positive (+). Contoh dengan simple
present tense, menggunakan kata kerja be (am, are is) dengan kata sifat (adjective)
fine/fain/=baik.
1. I am fine so are you.
Saya baik dan juga kamu.
2. You are fine and so am I.
Kamu baik dan juga saya.
3. We are fine and so are they.
Kita baik dan juga mereka.
4. They are fine and so are we.
Mereka baik dan juga kita.
5. You are fine and so are they.
Kalian baik dan juga mereka.
6. He is fine and so is she.
Dia (lk) baik dan juga dia (pr).

7. She is fine and so is he.
Dia (pr) baik dan juga dia(lk).
8. Tom is fine and Cindy.
Tom baik dan juga Cindy.
9. Cindy is fine and so is Tom.
Cindy baik dan juga Tom.
10. Jerry is fine and so is Jhon.
Jerry baik dan juga Jhon.

b) And Neither
The use of and neither for 2 sentences that are both negative (-). An example with the
simple present tense, using the simple present tense, using the verb be (am are is) with the
adjective fine/fain/=good.

Penggunaan and neither untuk 2 kalimat yang sama-sama negative (-). Contoh dengan
simple present tense, menggunakan kata kerja be (am, are is) dengan kata sifat (adjective)
fine/fain/=baik.
1. I am not fine and neither are you.
Saya tidak baik dan kamu tidak juga.
2. You are not fine and neither am I.
Kamu tidak baik dan saya tidak juga.
3. We are not fine and neither are they.
Kita tidak baik dan mereka tidak juga.
4. They are not fine and neither are we.
Mereka tidak baik dan kita tidak juga.
5. You are not fine and neither are they.
Kalian tidak baik dan mereka tidak juga.
6. He is not fine and neither is she.
Dia (lk) tidak baik dan dia (pr) tidak juga.
7. She is not fine and neither is he.
Dia (pr) tidak baik dan dia (lk) tidak juga.
8. Tom is not fine and neither is cindy.
Tom tidak baik dan cndy tidak juga.
9. Cindy is not fine and neither is tom
Cindy tidak baik dan tom tidak juga.
10. Jerry is not fine and neither is john.

 Jerry tidak baik dan john tidak juga.

C. Reading
Dialog
Jerry: “What do you want to drink, tea or coffee?”
Apa yang ingin kamu minum, teh atau kopi?
Tom: “I want to drink either tea or coffee. And you?”
Saya ingin minum baik kopi maupun teh. Dan kamu?
Jerry: “I want neither. I want juice.”
Saya tidak ingin dua-duanya. Saya ingin jus.

CONCLUSION

A. Conclusion

A conjunction is a word used to connect words phrases or sentences and so on,

and not for any other purpose or purpose.

Use of conjunction
1. And.....so: for 2 sentences that are both positive (+).
Example: I am fine and so are you.
And…..so : untuk dua kalimat yang sama-sama positive (+).
Contoh: Saya baik dan juga kamu.

2. And neither: for 2 sentences that are both negative (-).

Example: I am not fine and neither are you.
And…..so: untuk dua kalimat yang sama-sama negative (+).
Contoh: saya tidak baik dan kamu tidak juga.

An example with 2 subjects using the simple present tense: neither I nor you like
swimming.
Contoh dengan 2 subject menggunakan simple present tense: baik saya maupun
kamu tidak suka berenang.
