NARRATIVE

FIELD STUDY 2 DEPLOYMENT

Senior education students from Pangasinan State University-Asingan Campus conducted the
second educational field study from January 12 to 17, 2023. Field study 2's primary goal was
for pre-service teachers to participate in and assist with limited actual teaching-learning
activities.
The first day of deployment in Field Study 2 was last Thursday, January 12, 2023, and I was
deployed at Angela Valdez Ramos National High School for 16 hours of service together
with Ms. Daisy G. Arogar, Ms. Bobie Lyn Reloza, and Mr. John Mark B. Omilla. Our Field
Study mentor, Ms. Marry Ann Soberano, introduced us to the head of the Science
Department, Mr. Crisogono Floro A. Badua, along with other Science Department Teacher
III Faculty Members, Mrs. Maribel P. Alvarez, Mrs. Marites P. Mamaradlo, Mrs. Rosalie A.
Viernes, and Mr. Nicolai Jon Jon C. Valenzuela.
Mr. Crisogono Floro A. Badua and other science department teaching staff agreed that our
group would partake in and facilitate Mrs. Marites P. Mamaradlo's grade 9 class in the
morning, Mr. Nicolai Jon Jon C. Valenzuela's grade 8 class in the morning, Mrs. Maribel P.
Alvarez' grade 7 class in the afternoon, and Mrs. Rosalie Viernes' grade 10 class in the
afternoon. Mrs. Viernes privately requested that we conduct our demo-teaching in her grade
10 class on Monday, January 16, in order to assist her. Our group unanimously agreed to her
request because it would be a fantastic opportunity for us to manage a class of grade 10
students.
Mr. Crisogono Floro A. Badua introduced us to Mr. Florencio B. Quezon Jr. the principal of
Angela Valdez Ramos National High School, on January 13, 2023, Friday, the second day of
our deployment, because Mr. Quezon wasn't at the school on our first day due to an important
meeting.
We helped Mr. Badua's grade 9 class fill in for Mrs. Viernes' class, which was vacant, in the
afternoon. We assist some students in his class who are having difficulty determining the
molar mass of an element or compound and solving the moles of a particle. We are thrilled to
help those students, and we can see it in their eyes.
Monday, January 16, 2023, the third day of our deployment and group demo-teaching. Our
group agreed that I and Ms. Daisy Arogar would be the first group to teach in the Grade 10
Mercury class in the morning, and Mr. John Mark Omilla and I would be the second group to
teach in the Grade 10 Mars class in the afternoon. Around 2:00–3:00 pm, I and Mr. John
Mark Omilla teach the grade 10 students about convex mirrors and the ray diagraming of a
convex mirror. We truly enjoyed teaching in grade 10 mars because they are attentive and
they always participate in class.
Our final deployment day is Tuesday, January 17, 2023. We conducted a brief interview with
Mr. Badua, in which we inquired about how student grades are computed and what factors
should be considered when grading students. As future science educators, we also inquired
about how to create a daily lesson log and sought additional guidance. In the afternoon, we
conducted a game for the students and a quiz for them to assess their knowledge about the
topic. The students really enjoyed our demo teaching and some of them requested that if it if
possible, we will conduct again a demo teaching for them.
It was a very successful deployment. Field study 2 is more interactive and interesting because
I get to teach and interact with the students, acquire knowledge, and advise by the skilled and
expert science teachers of Angela Valdez Ramos National High School.
