Reflection Paper 7
Reflection Paper 7
Every citizen who reached 18 years of age in a democratic country has a political
right to elect the politicians that they wanted to be in the position who will lead them.
One of the most critical ways that individuals can influence governmental decision-
making is through voting. Voting is defined as an expression of opinion or preference. It
takes place in the context of a national or regional election, however, local community
elections can be just as critical to individual participation in government. Voting is one
key way to help turn the country around and another is for families and individuals
to change their personal economies.
Furthermore, I agree with the quotation written by George Orwell which says “A
people that elect corrupt politicians, imposters, thieves, and traitors are not victim. But
accomplices” because putting people in the position is on us we are the one who has
rights to elect the honest, capable and dedicated enough to do what is good for the
advancement of both the nation’s and the people’s welfare or the ignorant, reckless and
corrupt officials. The country’s future is on us and if we elect persons that are not worthy
in their position we cannot blame anyone. If we vote for the corrupt politicians,
imposters, thieves, and traitors we are just tolerating their bad intentions to the country
for their own good. The intentions of these kinds of officials have many negative effects
on society such as low economic growth, poverty, crimes, higher infant mortality, lower
levels of interpersonal trust, etc. If we believe in the promises and vote for imposters,
thieves, and corrupt officials we are the ones that being affected someday and we
cannot blame anyone because we are the one who chose them to be in the position.
