BRAINSTORMING ACTIVITY

SOUND AND SILENCE

Concept 1: The idea came from a popular fun-game and attentive activity on Tiktok,

where a child uses his/her hands to do a clap above the things that will be use and

with a background music to get along to the beat. At some point, we found this game

interesting so we wanted to give a twist. We believe that this kind of activity is not

only fun but at the same time it tests the attention of a child and his/her focus on

what to do next in order to continue and participate in the activity.

Materials: Random different stuffs that could be found in a classroom or within

reach.

Procedures:

1. On a flat surface or area, place at least four to five (4-5) random things that will be

used for the activity - it could be balls, fruits, boxes, etc. It will depend on the

availability of the classroom.

2. Have the children sitting or standing just right behind the selected items. This

could be done by two (2) groups competing each other, one (1) person per group to

represent each round.

3. Direct the children that other than clapping above the things, the children has to

remain silent when the facilitator get the item. And do extra claps when the facilitator

put another item, making it 2 or 3 claps on it.

Reminder: The facilitator can use background music so the children can get along

to the beat and sound of the music while doing the activity.

4. In each group, non should miss a beat or else they have to start in the beginning

line replacing another member to continue the game.

For example: Each group has 6 members. Group A missed everything, making all 6

members play in a round. However, Group B only missed once and had 2 members

play in a round. That means Group B won the round because only few members

were able to play. So the lesser the members play, the better.

SLOW AND FAST

Concept 2: "Freeze Dance" in this activity, we should encourage pupils to dance as

the music plays. As the moderator, we can press the pause button at any time, and

once the music stops, the pupils get to freeze in dancing positions! Up-tempo songs

present different challenges than smooth and slow songs, so use a variety of songs

whenever you play!

Materials: Music Box

Procedures:

1. When the music is playing you dance. When the music stops you freeze. The

last one moving is out of the game and must go to a designated area.

2. Throughout the game, whether the music is on or off, whether you are out or

still playing, your voice must be off. It's not fair if someone else can't hear the

music stopping because of your noise.

3. For your movement to count as "dancing" you must move your feet and only

your feet may touch the floor. Otherwise it's too easy to stop and start.
4. You cannot touch any other person or thing, and you must stay in your spot-

you cannot move around the room while you are dancing. It's not safe.

5. If you forget any of the rules above, you will be out in addition to whomever is

the last to stop moving- there can be multiple people out in one round.

6. I am the Almighty Judge. You may not argue with the Almighty Judge, and you

may not attempt to become a judge yourself. Any attempts to usurp or argue

with Almighty Judge will result in banishment.

Reminder: Once the rules are established the rest is a matter of holding students to

those rules. I have found the best way to see a room full of dancing children

simultaneously is to look at the middle of the room and pay attention to my

peripheral vision. Make sure to position yourself in a place where you can

control the music and see every player at the same time.
