BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

Ano Elementary School was established in 1920. It is situated at the heart of Barangay
Ano beside Barangay Hall which is about 5 kilometers from the city proper. As stated in the tax
declaration, it covers an area of which 8,739 sq. meters of forest trees are planted making the
school atmosphere fresh, cool, and shady the whole day long. The land was donated by some
Barangay Ano Residents for their children’s concerns.

The school started with two rooms made of bamboo walls and nipa roofing. It catered to
primary grades or multi-grade classrooms. Several years passed it offered complete grades from
grades one to six.

In 1984, Ano ES offered Non-Formal Education for out-of-school youth which was
administered by Mrs. Lydia J. Flores and changed its name to Alternative Learning System

learners who are residing at Barangay Ano but also in nearby barangays. As of now, Mrs.
Jeanny M. Fernandez has 5 learners in SPED Class and handled the following: learning
disability, visual impairment, intellectual disability, autism, and hearing impairment.

Ano ES is a complete elementary school that caters to Kindergarten to Grade 6 classes

and has a population of 350 learners.

In 2016, the school underwent major repair of 8 classrooms and 1 condemned building.
There are eight school buildings. Twelve rooms are used for academic classes and one school
official. All rooms are properly lit and ventilated. It is supplied by potable water drawn from the
