SUBJECT: PAYLOAD METER III (PLMIII) UPGRADE TO PAYLOAD METER IV
(PLMIV)
PURPOSE: Th inform the field of a kit to convert Payload Meter III (PLMIII) to Payload
Meter IV (PLM IV).

DESCRIPTION:

For the trucks listed above, kit (58E-00-00891, converts and replaces Payload Meter III (PLM III) to
Payload Meter IV (PLMIV). The kit contains necessary components for the conversion from PLM III to
PLM IV. For some 730E and 830E trucks, the attenuator (EK3046) will need to be removed as shown in
A PSN AA04036.

Installation:
1. Disconnect and remove PLM III controller (1, Figure 1) from the auxiliary control cabinet.
2. Connect jumper harness (5, Figure 2) to PLM IV controller (3).
3. Install communication interface (4, Figure 2) to plate (7).
4. Install plate (7), communication interface (4), and PLM IV controller (3) in the auxiliary control
cabinet using the existing PLM III mounting holes.
5. Connect jumper harness (5) to the PLM III connector of the existing harness.
6. Route and terminate circuit 0 from jumper harness (5) to terminal GB31.
7. Use reference document, checkout manual (58B-06-02400), to setup and verify operation of PLM
IV.
