CHAPTER I

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND AND REVIEW OF RELATED

LITERATURE AND STUDIES

Introduction

In the modern era, there are many inventions that either could help or harm the

human population. It is very difficult for people to create or express something useful

but because of the collaboration and careful analysis, the researchers have

developed a 6-in-1 Retractable Masonry and Carpentry Tool.

According to Gallantry's Buyer's Guide (2016). Multi-tools are tremendous for

their ability to offer a number of simple and effective solutions to everyday problems.

Most come with a variety of functions and some can even be adapted to use their

included solutions in unusual ways if you’ve got a bit of imagination. While they may

not be the best thing to use for complex work, they can competently handle the more

common small jobs. Emergencies cannot always be predicted. That’s part of what

makes them emergencies. The most you can do is prepare for the worst and hope

for the best. And keeping a multi-tool on hand is a pretty good step in the right

direction. A multi-tool can be the difference between peril and success.

The researcher develop the product to assist the workers, specifically construction

workers, masons, and carpenters. Carrying too many heavy tools can lead to

hazards such as numbness at work and accidents. Every time and day, they perform

a different task, and it will be useful to have a tool that can perform multiple tasks

without bringing too many tools. The construction workers, carpenters and masons

use hammers, chisels, and nails for woodworking at times, but have they ever

imagine having all of those tools in just one or two items without feeling numb or

worrying about forgetting some of the tools? Having multiple tools without having to
2
VALENZUELA CITY POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE
Kamagong Street Fortune 6 Village Parada

worry about weight and price is a benefit of our product that most potential workers

will appreciate. Why would they buy bulky products when they can have one for a

very low price that is also very easy to carry and use on the go? This will encourage

our fellow Filipinos to have a complete set of tools without having to worry.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

The intent of this study is to determine the level of acceptability of 6-in-1

Retractable Mason and Carpentry Tool (RMCT) as perceived by the respondents.

The study was undertaken at Valenzuela City Polytechnic College. The respondents

of the study were the 50 employees of (specific company).

The descriptive and experimental research designs were used in this study. It

also used statistical tools to examine the data in the study, such as percentage,

weighted mean, and chi-square . During the School Year 2022-2023, the research

was carried out.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

This chapter presents literature related to the study taken from foreign and

local sources which gave light to the conduct of the study.

FOREIGN LITERATURE

According to Mahoney (2021), multi-tool is easier to use and carry because it’s

unburdened by an abundance of rarely used tools. It’s like keeping a flashlight in

your pocket: If you don’t carry one, you can’t imagine ever using it, but once you

have it, you use it seven times a day.

According to Hongquan, (2014), to solve technical problem improving operating

efficiency and reduce costs, a ratchet screwdriver for two way work doing is

significance. This screwdriver comprises knife bar, handle, and bi-directional

transmission device, reversing arrangement. It is relevant to the study because it is

about multi-purpose tool and to minimize the tools they are handling.

Described bidirectional transmission device comprises axis, and is arranged on two

7
VALENZUELA CITY POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE

ratchet-gear wheels on axis, two driven wheels. One of them ratchet-gear wheel and

a driven wheel and axis synchronous axial system another ratchet-gear wheel and

another driven wheel can central axis relatively and two driven wheels are connected

by primary transmission gear drive. This ratchet screwdriver has relative use to the

product, 6-in-1retactable multi-purpose mason and carpentry tool, this tool have

different kinds of uses like nail pulling, surface scraping, shape and carve. Also, to

make their time efficient since they are using multi purpose tool which is hassle free

and effective.

FOREIGN STUDY

According to Montem (2018), Multi-tools keep everything together and prevent a

person from losing any of the individual items, it is easy to access and use.

Multi-tools eliminate the need to select and purchase separate tools.

According to Wetzel (2017), Hand tools in the construction industry

are specifically designed to aid in the execution of a task through manual operation.

The large variety of these instruments and their uses are evident throughout the

construction process. Preferences on tool types for a specific task and perceived

usage of a tool may vary based on the discipline of the user.

LOCAL LITERATURE

According to KYK Tools Blog, (March, 2018), for homeowners who often spice

up the overall aesthetic of their home, or those who just want to do a repair and

installation work themselves, having the perfect power tools from the Philippines is a

blessing. Power tools from the Philippines should also be called as “Miracle Tools”

because various home-related projects can be easily and efficiently accomplished

8
VALENZUELA CITY POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE
Kamagong Street Fortune 6 Village Parada
through their aid.

According to KYK Tools Blog, (March, 2018), in today’s world, more and more

people are rediscovering the practical benefits of learning to build and fix things with

their own hands. Various power tools in the Philippines are found in almost every

household, varying in size, shape, material, and purpose. It goes without saying that

storing these tools properly is just as important as using them correctly.

The first evident point is that with proper storage, these tools would always be

convenient and easy to access. Power tools in the Philippines require systems of

regulative maintenance in order to make sure they last and stay fully functional.

Depending on the tools and what space you have to work with, there are many

simple procedures that can be followed to maximize your storage.

LOCAL STUDY

According to Offgrid Staff in Gear (2013), the more functions a tool has and less

weight and space it takes up, the more useful it is. It is also makes up for in mobility,

storage space requirements, and hidden tools.
